Nojo Wallace Perspective on MINE (ACT I)

I’m Norris Johnson Jr, aka Nojo Wallace, a 25 year old from Arlington, Texas. I produce, write and record music and also design clothes from time to time.

My earliest memory of listening to music was riding in the car with my pops as a kid. He was a big RnB fan so I remember him playing Jamie Foxx- Unpredictable, Robin Thicke- The Evolution of Robin Thicke, and Tank- Sex, Love & Pain front to back.

I honestly began writing music at a super young age. Around the age of 11/12 I would go and stay with my aunt for the summer and everyday sun up to sun down I would watch MTV Jams and VH1 and think how I wanted to one day be on there. I used to play around and write little songs here and there, but around 17/18 I knew this was what I wanted to do for sure.

I feel like in the last 3 years I’ve began to broaden my sound and also find more of an artistic identity. I also feel like I’ve gotten better at creating hooks and good songs. When I first began I was hyper focused on being the best rapper, but I realized that a good song trumps good rapping.

Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Kanye West. I feel like those are the greatest artists we’ve ever seen.

Drake, Young Thug, and SIR. I just feel like they have music for any mood you’re in.

Michael Jackson for sure. He’s the greatest performer of all time. There’s not really more to it.

I would love to go on tour with someone like Tyler the Creator, Kendrick Lamar, or Doechii. I feel like no other artists are putting on shows like they are and I’d like to learn from them.
