Kid Vib3s Perspective on WHATSYONAME

I’m Kid Vib3s, a music artist and producer from the Southside of Chicago. I create sounds that mix rap, R&B, and melodic vibes, pulling inspiration from life experiences, travels, and the people around me. I produce, write, and engineer.

Growing up on the Southside of Chicago, I’ve always wanted to stand out from the drill-heavy scene and create something with a different vibe. Whatsyoname reflects that with melodic energy that still hits hard

I knew I wanted to be an artist back in third grade when I first picked up the trumpet and felt that rush of creating music. Over time, that passion grew as I learned to produce, write, and record my own songs. The moment I realized I could turn my ideas into full tracks was when I knew this was what I was meant to do.

Whatsyoname sits in the lane of hip-hop and R&B with a melodic, vibey feel.

In the last three years, my sound has evolved into a more polished and versatile blend of rap and R&B. I’ve moved from just making beats to building full songs with richer melodies, layered vocals, and intentional storytelling. My style now focuses on creating a distinct vibe that’s both personal and universally relatable.

I’d go on tour with Drake, Kid Cudi, or Travis Scott because their shows are an experience, not just a performance. Their ability to connect with massive crowds while keeping a unique vibe inspires me. Sharing a stage with them would push my creativity and energy to another level.

I explore themes of ambition, relationships, self-reflection, and the highs and lows of chasing success. My music often mixes personal storytelling with a vibe that feels cinematic and emotional. Whether it’s turn-up energy or late-night introspection, I aim to make every track relatable and immersive.

I’d describe my music as a smooth blend of rap and R&B with melodic hooks and atmospheric production. It’s vibey, emotional, and still has the energy to hit in the club or in your headphones late at night. Every track is built to pull you into a mood and keep you there.

I have a song that will be coming out in the next week of August 2025 called Mixed Intentions. It my first real dance/house self-produced song and it just give me those 2010 nostalga vibes mixed with modern sounds that makes me want to move the whole time. The lyrics I wrote for the song fit perfectly and just creates a great party vibe overall. Everyone who's heard it unreleased has been asking me for it nonstop so I'm super excited to put it out into the world.
