Name three artists you’d like to be compared to.
Answer:

Based upon talent and skill,

  1. R kelly
  2. Kirk Franklin
  3. Sam Cooke

Which production elements did you prioritize while working on this track? Is there anything you really wanted to stick out to listeners?
Answer:

The drums and bass synth are the driving force musically for this song so sound choice for the drums and a catchy bass line was top priority. This is what will move the listener physically while the lyrics focus upon moving them spiritually.

What is the most random sound you have included within one of your tracks? Where did you find it, and how did you implement it?
Answer:

The most random sound I have used in my songs is actually a sample of africans working in a field saying "Hey There". I use that phrase as a rhythm within drum patterns, the "hey" as a perc and the "there" with the snare. This is on my song "Wading in the Water" under my former artist name "J The Producer"

What is your favorite instrument to work with, and why?
Answer:

The MPC. Every production begins with me and my MPC live 2.  From it I establish the groove and there is nothing quite like the MPC's natural swing.

How many beats do you produce per month?
Answer:

It fluctuates greatly. Sometimes i make 2-3 in a week and then sometimes 1-2 a month.

Which production tools and plugins would you recommed to aspiring producers?
Answer:

I am a hardware guy instrument wise so my recommedation would be a MPC drum machine and a keyboard workstation of your choice. for mixing plugins I recommened the company called Nuro Audio and their plugins XVox Pro and Xrack pro.

Which aspect of the writing, production and release process do you enjoy the most?
Answer:

I actually like coming up with melodies the most after the production is done, because though there isnt any words yet, coming up with melodies give me a snapshot of what the song will sound like and discovering that is always fun.
