YoursTru Bigga Perspective on Represent

Hip-Hop, Dirty South, Trap, Club Music

My name is YoursTru Bigga and i was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, in a neighborhood in the heart of the East side of the city called Seminole Heights. I was influenced and inspired at an early age by hip-hop, and have been writing lyrics since childhood. As an adult, I have been writing and producing original music for myself and for other aspiring artists in the Tampa Bay area.

Always of course our earliest memories of music come from our parents, and my parents listened to a lot of soul and funk from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Lots of music from the Motown era, artists like Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, the Jackson 5, The Supremes and Diana Ross, and moving on to Marvin Gaye, and Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Teddy Pendergrass. Some of the bands like The Isley Brothers, Con Funk Shun, The Commodores, etc. My mother's favorite was Frankie Beverly and Maze. So all of this music did have an early influence as this music was from the eras that came before hip-hop took hold in the late 70s. Now as far as hip-hop, I can't remember the first rap song I ever heard but I been around long enough to remember one that was a smash hit when I was maybe 8 years old and that was "Push It" by Salt-N-Pepa. I tell that to people and they don't realize but that was the first rap song that I can remember that was playing on the radio 20 times a day, no exaggerating. The beat was simple, but funky, and it caught on like wildfire, and was one of the reasons I wanted to get into hip-hop and also was a fan of Salt-N-Pepa throughout their career.

This particular track is a group effort, featuring four of the members of the hip-hop collective that I assembled, The B.I.G. Squad. B.I.G. is an acronym that stands for Bosses Indpendently Grinding. This was always a concept that I had of a group that I wanted to assemble much in the vein of the Wu-Tang Clan, where each memeber was an independent artist and had the ability to pursue solo ventures at any time, but still had the love and loyalty to always be able to come together and stand as one, and when we assemble like the Avengers, we're unstoppable. Reminiscent of that song "You Make Me Better" by Ne-Yo, we each are a movement by ourselves, but we're a force when we're together. And this track "Represent" from the forthcoming group project "Strength In Numbers" is evidence of that, you have four distinctly different styles that come together perfectly on this hard hitting track produced by WizzerOnTheBeat. Leading off is Yours Truly, as in YoursTru Bigga with an introduction to the B.I.G. Squad, followed by the underground veteran flow of BurnaBlack, who's lyricism is on full display as he Represents the Squad in B.I.G. way. Then rounding out the track are two up-and-coming rappers, QueeOsala and HBK Reese who bring the heat and the energy to keep listeners thirsting for more. This is just a taste of what the B.I.G. Squad has to offer, and with more music featuring these as well as B.I.G. Squad members D-Molish, Curly G, and G-Babii Da Princess on the horizon, fans better get ready for Hip-Hop's next Supergroup!
