Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

The Afro Magik is an afro-pop & Hip Hop band signed under the Afro Magik Music Group. We are a Kenyan Band hailing from the Mont Kenya Region representing Nyeri County (019) with a vision to take create Timeless music and entertainment while showcasing the uniqueness of Africa as a continent in te Global Music Industry.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

It represents the duo's versatility both as musicians and dancers.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

It was back in 2004/2005 when the Kenyan Local music Scene was full of talented artists like the late E-Sir, Wyre, Nameless, K-Rupt, Lady S, Mr Lenny and more who really inspired our geeration to continue pursuing music.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

Back when i was 8 years old in primary School.

Answer:

Dancehall, Riddim, Ragga, Kapuka, Genge Music, Gengetone Music and Afro Dancehall.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

Understanding and Discovering new ways to organize my Releases, Lyrics, Sets and Perfomances. Also learning and understanding how the Music Industry operates and how to Brand content for maximum output.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

Themes on having fun, happiness and embracing life and challenges,.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

Kushman Peddi wa Magenge because he was the first individual who introduced me to my Producer and Engineer.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

It is worth listening to and will put you on a different mind perspective.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

It is entertaining, educative, motivating, fun to listen to, thought-provking, enticing, seductive, romantic and timeless.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Watching a Chris Brown , Christopher Martin or Nyashinski performance i know would make me learn more.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

"ONGEZA VOLUME" is currently my favorite song. It is that song that cemented the Afro Magik as an Interntional Act. Its more than just a song. Its a Mentality.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Chris Brown, Nyashinski and Christopher Martin. I enjoy their lyricism and how they are able to dominate in the industry effortless and with style.

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

Me at the center of a stadium filled to capacity with all the lights on me and the entire stadium singing along to all my songs

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

Chris Brown.

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

I want people to feel relatable to what my music is all about. I want people to be in a position to tell a friend to listen to the Afro Magik becuase of the pure vibes and energy that my song will birth. I want people to feel good about themselveds and to know that they can be who they are and can also reach for the stars. I want people to also feel loved and elevated to a higher height that is full of peace and calm but can also dance within the vibes.

What is your favorite way of sharing your music?
Answer:

Through word of mouth.

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Resilient. Entrertaining and Magical.

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

Yes i do and i doit very often. Over time, my practicesessions have sharpened, elevated and shifted in various ways. I practice almost in all the spaces i find myself in.

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

On my way out of the studio.

 

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

That i should NEVER STOP making Music.

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

Success as an artist is achieving Independce in all aspects that relate to your catalogue. Success as an artist to me will be defined by the amount of change my work will effect in people's lives even when am not there.

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

I want to intoduce various ways of music creatio within one or mmany themes and different talents.

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

To Inspire, Educate, Motivate, Elevate and Entertain.

Answer:

"See You Again" - It is not on;ly relatable but also Timeless.

What has been your scariest experience while pursuing music?
Answer:

My scariest experience is losing my project that was a huge investment to me at that time.

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

My microphone was once switched off intentionally in the middle of a performance.

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

I could provide independent artist and performers with a favorable environment to do their crafts and from a very young age.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

I have worked as an Agricultural Consultant, an Elections clerk, a Sales person, and Financial Advisor, Logistics Expert and Deejay.

What is your favorite work of art?
Answer:

"Bila Swali" - a Reggae Jam that is all about love.

How have your other passions reinforced your process of making music?
Answer:

They have opened up my vision on how to curate my lyrics and how to approach a project.

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

Yes it has. I counteract this by making music and involving a very small circle of creatives who double up as family.

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

Being you at all times and living by what you say and beleive in. No matter how the world wants you to move. You gotta be You at all times.

Answer:

Music Inntruments like the Piano, Drum sets and Stages.

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

You gotta stay hamble and always be yourself.

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

To be the Greatest there has ever been and help uplift others to the same heights or even more and more so mke money because i am a Businessman first and always.

What is your overarching goal as an artist?
Answer:

To be on Billboards across continents.
