SHVKA Perspective on NO DELAY

I’m SHVKA; a Cameroonian-Nigerian artist based in the DMV. I create genre-blending music rooted in Afrobeats but influenced by everything from baile funk to pop, house, and dancehall. My goal is to tell honest stories and make people move while doing it.

Being born to West African parents and growing up in the U.S. shaped my sound. “No Delay” is an Afroswing/pop fusion track that reflects both worlds; African rhythm meets Western polish. It’s that feeling of urgency and excitement when you’re locked in on someone and ready to act on it without hesitation  a theme I relate to from both cultural lenses.

I knew I wanted to pursue music seriously after dropping my first track and feeling the way people connected with it; not just the sound, but the story. That moment made me realize this wasn’t just a hobby, it was a calling. I’ve been building since then.

“No Delay” blends Afroswing and pop. It’s rhythmic, bouncy, and melodic, pulling from UK and Afro-diasporic influences while keeping it fresh and accessible to a global audience.
