Toni Tress The hyperactive member of the Saarland electronic scene, operator of the label “TWIN TOWN PRODUCTION”, which releases techno, ambient and ECM-compatible jazz in equal measure, has not only attracted attention with his hippie house with MC “TIGER.UPPERCUT for ”Munchies".

I discovered my first electronic sounds as a little boy, through the synthesizer music of Jean-Michel Jarre's "OXYGEN". I think that was the first awakening for me and it was wonderful. At the age of about 15, I started buying hip hop from the States - 2PAC and DR. DRE were good teachers here. Drum & Bass by GOLDIE also inspired me. As almost all my friends were skaters, I also became interested in grunge and punk (The OFFSPRING, NOFX). That was the shit until the mid-90s. BODY COUNT was really groundbreaking for me and a fusion of both worlds! Baaaam! And then suddenly there was another fresh band called THE PRODIGY, and although this sound was on repeat in the Golf 2, the whole UK thing had mutated into ultrasound for me at the same time. I was already collecting breakbeat records from Knight Force Rec. and Mick & Marc gave me the first tapes, which I came across more and more often from then on. Now I had like-minded people who felt the same way as I did. All this together led to the logical consequence of studying the rotating wheels of steel (MK2), starting DJing, organizing the first parties and becoming part of the new movement. It was not a short pleasure, it was the beginning of a long professional journey.

That was all quite a while ago, in 2001 I decided to release records under my alter ego Toni Tress with my friends Mick (BigM), Marc Hartmann and Lars Looper (Baby L) due to a lack of opportunities and to found my own record label for the Saarland electronic music scene. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the artists for placing their trust in me. As we started far, far away from the classic techno sound and were more oriented towards the up-and-coming big beat and breakbeat scene in England, there was no alternative for us. The first release was called "ON A Mission" and coincidentally came out on a historic date, namely 11/09/01. It is still amazing that the fall of the Twin Towers and the delivery of the first pressing fell on this day.
