How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

With members form both the East Coast and West we each bring our own individuality to the songs that we create and the lyrics that we write. Our group is intercultural with one member being Cambodian, one African-American, and one Chinese & African American. This diversity within our group allows us to push the boundaries in terms of how different cultures can come together and create something beautiful.

Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

Be You!! We are the BeY girls! BeY (Be Yourself) is an independent American girl group that produces song covers and also makes original music. As we are inspired by K-pop : we sing, rap, dance and combine quality music with visual aesthetics. We hope that you'll support us and tag along on our journey! 💙💚

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

"Shake" is a dance pop song that also has elements of RnB and has a somewhat K-pop feel to it.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

BeY has had a few different concepts for each release. The theme that ties everything together is self-love. For "Seal The Win" our first signal, its about not backing down and being the number 1 champion no matter what challenges it takes to get there. Our second single "Sugar Kisses" is about falling in love and being self-aware enough to let those emotions take course. "Crime Scene" is all about loving yourself enough to leave a cheater and to focus on yourself because someone elses actions don't define you. "I See You" the fourth single explores themes of being seen as you are, even if you're shy and into yourself or extroverted to mask something else. I See You is all about coming as you are and being seen as you are. Our latest song "Shake" somewhat mirrors "Crime Scene" in terms of loving yourself enough to let something go. "Shake" lets people know that it's okay to cut off friendships that aren't serving you anymore while also being a fun dance tune.
