Garon Dugas Perspective on Addiction

My name is Garon Dugas. I'm a Christian country music artist from Southwest Louisiana, USA. My love for the Lord and country music is what I hope to combine and represent. I believe that there is a large group of people who love the country genre and christian music is lacking in music that has a real country music sound. That's what I want to produce for the community.

I wrote this song in a season of my life where I was desperately seek that Lord day and night. I had a thirst and hunger to know Him more. It was like an addiction. The dark sound of the song is intentional and plays into the title. An addiction is dark.

My earlist memory of listening to music is hearing Swingin' by John Anderson when I was around 4 years old and I remember that being my favorite song . I also had albums by Michael Jackson and Tina Turner. It's safe to say even then I had a love for all genres of music.

I always had a love for music but I never thought I would be an artist/performer. After I got out of the Navy I went to college at McNeese State and needed a little extra money so I started performing at a little bar every Thursday night. Songwriting just evolved out of a love of storytelling and poetry.

Addiction is a Christian Country song but it speaks to people in many different ways.

I always wanted to have a rock n roll sound and could never get it quiet right but last year someone told me to stop trying to be something your not and start being the artist you were meant to be. What he was saying is you have this country accent and a storytelling voice. Why aren't you sing country music? After he told me that it set me free to be the artist I was suppose to be and things have been going the right direction since.

There are so many but if I had to choose it would probably be Jamey Johnson. Just because I love his music but there are several others especially Texas singer songwriters.

Jamey Johnson, Trace Atkins, Don Williams

Don Williams- for his smooth vocals, Chris Knight- for his storytelling and raw vocals, Josh Baldwin- for his great song writing

I feel that Christian music is lacking a true country sound and that is what I'm hoping to bring to the genre.
