I’m Kha Noirr, a 20-year-old trap/soul artist. I create music that blends the hard-hitting beats of trap with the emotional depth of soul, aiming to connect with listeners on multiple levels.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

My background influences my music deeply; growing up in a diverse environment exposed me to various musical styles and cultures, which I incorporate into my sound.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

remember listening to my parents' vinyl records as a child. The warmth of the sound and the stories in the lyrics captivated me from a young age.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I decided to pursue music seriously when I performed at a local talent show in high school. The energy from the crowd was electrifying and made me realize this is what I wanted to do.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

My latest release primarily falls into trap and soul, but it also incorporates elements of R&B and hip-hop, creating a rich tapestry of sound.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

Over the past three years, I’ve experimented more with my production techniques and songwriting, allowing me to develop a more mature and cohesive sound that reflects my personal growth.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

I often explore themes of love, struggle, and self-discovery. My music reflects my experiences and emotions, aiming to resonate with listeners who may feel the same.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

I would love to tour with SZA. Her ability to blend genres and her lyrical depth inspire me, and I think our styles would complement each other well.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

I would describe my favorite artist’s music as a soulful journey through emotions, combining smooth melodies with powerful lyrics that tell relatable stories.

Answer:

My music is a fusion of trap beats and soulful melodies, designed to evoke emotions and create a vibe that you can both dance to and reflect on.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

I would choose to see Prince. His stage presence and musical genius are legendary, and I would love to experience that energy live.
 

 

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

My favorite song is one that I wrote called "Coa Coa Butter" about love and  personal growth. It captures a pivotal moment in my life and reflects my journey, making it very special to me.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

I would choose Frank Ocean for his storytelling, J. Cole for his lyrical depth, and Erykah Badu for her soulful vibes. Each brings something unique that inspires me.

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

My dream performance would be an intimate venue filled with fans who know the lyrics. The energy would be electric, and I’d love to connect with the audience on a personal level.

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

Collaborating with Kendrick Lamar would be a dream. His artistry and lyrical prowess are unmatched, and I believe we could create something powerful together.

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

I once discovered a new song while waiting in line at a grocery store. The store was playing it, and I had to Shazam it right there!

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

I want people to feel understood and empowered. My goal is to create a safe space through my music where listeners can connect with their emotions.

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Authentic, passionate, and relatable.

Answer:

I love sharing my music through live performances. There’s something magical about seeing people react to my songs in real-time.

Answer:

Yes, I practice regularly. Over time, I’ve become more focused on songwriting and vocal techniques, which has helped me grow as an artist.

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

A fan once told me that my song helped them through a tough time. That kind of feedback is incredibly meaningful and motivates me to keep creating.

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

Success, to me, is about making a genuine connection with my audience and being able to express myself freely. I measure it by the impact my music has on others.

Answer:

I plan to push boundaries by blending genres and experimenting with new sounds, while also addressing themes that resonate with my generation.

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

Artists have the role of storytellers and truth-tellers. We reflect society’s struggles and triumphs, and our work can inspire change and provoke thought.

Answer:

A song that represents success for me is "Alright" by Kendrick Lamar. It embodies resilience and hope, which are essential themes in my own journey.

What has been your scariest experience while pursuing music?
Answer:

Performing in front of a large crowd for the first time was terrifying. The fear of judgment was overwhelming, but it ultimately helped me grow.

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

I once forgot the lyrics to my own song during a performance. I laughed it off, but it was definitely a moment I won’t forget! 😳

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

I would change the focus on streaming numbers to prioritize artist development and support for emerging artists, ensuring they have the resources to grow.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

I’ve worked in retail and Delta Airlines. These experiences taught me valuable lessons about hard work and connecting with people.

How have your other passions reinforced your process of making music?
Answer:

My love for visual arts influences my music videos and album artwork, allowing me to express my creativity in multiple forms.

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

At times, it can feel lonely, but I counteract this by surrounding myself with supportive friends and collaborating with other artists.

An artistic outlook means seeing beauty in everyday moments and using creativity to express thoughts and emotions.

My favorite work of art is "Starry Night" by Van Gogh. The emotion and movement in the painting resonate with me deeply.
