Tesla Chapman's Perspective on Time’s Up!

My name is Tesla Chapman, I am a producer, engineer, musician and skateboarder based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Growing up, I always had an affinity for video games which ended up shaping my musical sound. That being the case, a good friend of mine named Austin Sparks took his knowledge of myself and my artistry and created the instrumental.
The hard hitting 808's and the Navi sample made it easy to write a verse to it and the song was made.

When I was a kid growing up in Atlanta, my mom would always have the radio on when she would take me to school or doing whatever she needed to do. In the mornings, she would play gospel but in the afternoons I would always ask her to cut on V103.3 so that way I could hear the newest hip-hop that was out.
At nighttime though, they had a segment called the Quiet Storm where they played jazz, r&b and similar types of music. From that point I found out about Music Choice, a set of cable channels where you could play any genre of music, and I constantly did deep dives on various artists and genres.

I would say that Time's Up! is a trap song for sure.

Austin had made this beat years ago, and I wrote maybe 3 or 4 different verses for it. Once I landed on a verse that was decent enough, I booted up my home studio and laid down the vocals. After that, I did some light mixing and sent it off to my engineer Anthony and he sent back the final mix.

I didnt have the stems for this beat specifically so I wasn't able to re-arrange it like I wanted to, but it still ended up fire.

Last year, I released a beat tape titled Dairantou after not dropping music for a little while. Time's Up! was sort of a stress test to see how i can handle dropping new songs moving forward, and its also a promotional single for an upcoming mixtape that's set to release later this year.
