Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

I am akaJAMILA a philly born artist.. I rap and sing somewhat 

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

I consider myself a boss in my own right, so this song embodies that mindset

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

I have to go with my dad playing musing in his car when i was like 3yrs old

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I have been a part of making music a long time from being in choir at 7yrs old to going to Full Sail University for recording engineering. I wasnt fully convinced I had the ability to be my own artist until I got a lot of encouragement from friends a few years ago. 

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

Definitely hip-hop

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

Well I am not at the 3 year point yet, far from it so I will revisit this question by then lol

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

I like to play with topic related themes

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

I would love to tour with Megan The Stallion, I feel like we have a lot in common

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

I would tell them that in their prime they were the king of music

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

I would tell them my music is written directly from my diary and revised to complete the songs. I put a lot of thought into every lyric and song. The goal of my music is to resonate with people and tell stories through metaphors.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Michael Jackson without a doubt, his aura and talent was just unmatched.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

It has to be Chains because this was my first song written and the inspiration for me to actually began a career in music seriously.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Frank Ocean - He is unpredictable and I see myself in this way

Megan The Stallion - She is edgy and inspires me to be fearless

Michael Jackson - He was so inspirational and the greatest ever

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

Performing at the superbowl no doubt

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

Frank Ocean

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

I don't know what to say lol

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

Depends on the song, I honestly just want real raw responses

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Real, Raw, Unique

What is your favorite way of sharing your music?
Answer:

I haven't yet figured this part out. I try to just build catalog and if you find it you find it. But I just tell people I know about a song if I think they care.

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

All the time, I didnt get to this point without so much practice.

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

People crying to a song I cried while writing.

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

The point you are a household name and fans will argue with others to protect your name.

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

I will just stay active with great music and a message that is unparalled 

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

Uplifting people

Answer:

Fergie "Glamorous" this song just speaks to a successful life.

What has been your scariest experience while pursuing music?
Answer:

I would have to say my physical appearance. I do wish to tone up more before really doing visuals. I highly believe that having a strong social presence makes one more successful.

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

Realizing that my voice can crack mid song performance lol

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

I'd like labels and just the industry in general to return back to pursuing talent for their skills and making becoming an artist a competitive  thing not so easy to distribute.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

I am a military veteran, I also work as a medical biller 

How have your other passions reinforced your process of making music?
Answer:

Music is my passion

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

Yes!, I don't want to be a social butterfly just to become an artist. I prefer authentic interactions but being artist creates a tension in some cases which I just try to avoid.

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

I think it makes me view how I can turn things into creative lyrics for my music.

What is your favorite work of art?
Answer:

I love abstract art that defies reality

Answer:

Definitely music and visual art
