Walk us through your music creation process, specifically for this song.
Answer:

Well with this song in particular, it's a emo drill beat. I was just going through samples and I happen to find an emo drill sample pack, listening to different melodies until I came across the vocal sample that you hear in the beginning. It was completely random too and I liked how it sounded so I used it as the main sample.

What is your overarching goal as an artist?
Answer:

Meet The Weeknd and collab with him. He's my favorite artist so it's my dream to collab with him. Not only that, but I wanna know more about his mindset, his drive, his inspirations, and work ethic.

Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

I'm The Crimson Reaper and I'm a hip hop producer. You can call me Crimson for short if you don't wanna say the whole thing.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

Hip hop/Trap

How do you stay up to date with new trends and/or platforms? Do you find this necessary to keep your music relevant?
Answer:

I don't keep up with trends. I don't try to make trendy music. I just make music that I enjoy.

Which social media platform helps you the most as an artist to reach new listeners?
Answer:

Instagram, for sure.

Do you enjoy posting your work online, why or why not?
Answer:

I enjoy it. Since I love music, I enjoy sharing it to the world.

Do you have a distinct way of making music, how do you work?
Answer:

So I go through sample packs and just listen to them. If I like how it sounds, then I add it in there. I mostly start it off with a melody, then I slowly build it up with a hi-hat or a kick first, then add that 808. After the first half of the beat, I always look for another melody that would be best suited for the beat and I just use that same cycle again.

How many beats do you produce per month?
Answer:

I try to make at least one or two beats a day during my days off of work. There were times where I would make at least one beat at work. I always try to make a beat every week or every other week to give myself a little break.

Do you prefer working alone or collaborating with others? How does this influence your sound?
Answer:

I work alone. I like my solitude. It would be nice to collab with someone, but only if they're truly serious and interested in working with me. I don't want someone to say that they wanna work with me, only to not do anything about it. I also don't want someone to hop on my beat and the lyrics are trash, it would feel like a waste to me.

If you could choose anyone to produce one of your tracks, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Either Meteo or Mike Dean. It would be awesome to get a collab with Metro. He was one of the main reasons why I wanted to be a producer. For Mike Dean, I love synths. I love the way they sound and I'd love to collab with him someday, get a good synth bass in a beat or spice it up with a dark jazz/trap beat.

What was the biggest drawback when producing this track?
Answer:

For any track, it's finding the right sample and melodies to fit the beats. It can take me 20 or 30 minutes just to find a good hi-hat or a good 808 to make sure it sounds right and good, depending how it sounds.

Describe the fastest time in which you completed the writing and production process.
Answer:

I made "Nostalgia" on my phone using GarageBand and I made it in 1 take in just 10 minutes. I started recording and just used random loops in the 8 bit pack. I also made "Rhythmic Rendevous" within 10 minutes too and in 1 take. Once I recorded that one, I used the loops in unison and in random as well, counting in my mind to make sure I tap the loops at a certain point.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

Definitely The Weeknd and Travis Scott. I love their energy. I've been The Weeknd's concert a couple years ago and it was an amazing experience. It would be a dream come true for that to happen. That goes for Travis Scott too. I enjoy his music and I'd love to go on tour with him too and also collab with him as well.

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

Anything, really. You may feel like you wanna dance, rage out, get in your feelings, or even feel like a villain at times. That's what I want my music to be. Even though they're instrumentals, I still want people to feel something.
