GNAC INED Perspective on From The Mud

In short I'm GNAC INED (pronounced Yack). My name is an acronym for Greatness Needs A Challenge followed by I'm Not Easily Destroyed. I am a artist and my goal is to create music that is authentic and sets in a space of reality. Which is much different from the most music today.

The lyrics to this song along with the rest of the album really explains itself. I'm from North Long Beach California. I grew up in poverty which is the metephor of the song title "From The Mud". I am loyal to my roots and thats what I push for. That's my family my friends and the people that support me. Of course in every category there is those who just don't want to see you make it and those who wait in the cut until they see that your success is inevitable. Then they want to hop on board with their real intentions to hate from within. This song identifies the ones that are with me from the mud and differentiate them from everyone else.

Well, Im a fan of Hip Hop albums. Hip Hop albums are a lost art form. Today everything is about a single or even a short portion of a song that can be played on a short reel. That diminishes the art of Hip Hop or just music in general. Albums especially Hip Hop albums alway were put together strategically and told a story within a story. You could never know what an artist is about by listening to a single or a portion of a song on a reel. As an artist it's impossible to express yourself in such limited capacity. So the genre that this release play into is Hip Hop. I want to emphasize "album Hip Hop" and I know some will understand that and some won't.

I feel like my music is always evolving and always will. Mainly because I write music for other artists in other genres. So, that may seep into my own music at any time.

Real life experience is the best way to sum that up.

If I could go on tour with any artists it would likely be other independant artist that are really good artist but just can't break the algorithms set up by the big music companies that want to control the music. I feel like we should support eachother... From The Mud.

My favorite song of my recent album The "Still Waters" Album is 17 With A Dream. Mainly because It's balanced well. It has the auditory aeshetics for those that just want to hear something that sounds good and it has good content for those who care about content.

I would say my music is like still waters... It can appear shallow but it runs deep.

What I want people to feel when they hear my music is that music is art that they can connect to. If people don't feel inspired by your music in a positive way then your music isn't worth anything. Your music has to be about more than just you or you're waisting your talents.

That's a great question that I'm not going to answer completely. I will say that an artist is someone who is blessed to have a voice (not everyone does) and should be careful and concious of how that voice impacts society. Capturing the different aspects of society is one thing and manipulating those aspect to be something their not is something else.

I believe any artist that has an desired impact on a group of people, a culture or a society is successful. I measure this success by having a portion of either group of people listenting to music that I believe in. That my idea of success.
