Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

My name is Ninebay Jakub and I am a singer/songwriter who's been making music for 10+ years. I fall somewhere into the hip hop genre, not sure exactly where though. I focus most of my music around love or the lack there of. Originally from Ohio, I've spent the last five years now living & creating relationships in Southwest Florida.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

As I've mentioned before, most of my music is focused around love...

My song "Wide Awake" speaks to the late nights and early mornings side of love that one could expierence.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

Honestly, my earliest memory of listening to music is me riding in the backseat of my mothers car listening to Biggie's Hypnotize playing on the radio.

That had to be like 1996-97..

Other than that I just remember always having some type of background music playing.

One side of my family was heavy on Country and Rock while the other side was mostly Hip-Hop/R&B.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

My song "Wide Awake" mostly fits into the Hip Hop genre while having an Afrobeat type feel to it.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

That's kind of an unfair question. There are SO MANY amazing artists that I would love to see live.

I guess if I had to choose one it would maybe be Linkin Park with Chester Bennington.

Audioslave would be cool too.

I've actually been trying to catch a Rob Zombie show recently too.. hopefully I'll get the chance to see him soon.

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

That's kind of a yes and no question.

I wouldn't say i'm a "lonely" person but even without being an artist I just prefer to be alone.

At the same time it's always fun to create realtionships with fellow artists and individuals who share similar passions.

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

My one main reason is simply because you never know.

You never know what one song may be a hit or go viral or whatever.

In this day and age you just never know.

I'm always just one song away from changing my life.

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

Be patient and trust the process.

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

An artistic outlook on life would be someone who goes through life's ups and downs just like everyone else but can use their artistic outlet to express how they're feeling.

A true artist can connect with their audience and can let their audience know that they're not the only ones feeling that emotion. whatever it may be.
