Who are you and what do you do?

I am Ben Martin, Lead singer and guitarist for the band Ninety-Four.04

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

This song is about a long lost love that I turned into a rock ballad. I wanted it to be sad but have that upbeat Rock Rhythm to it

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I decided to become a performer at 22. My first band started wiuth my brother playing Red Dirt and country songs

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

Rock and Rock Ballad

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

It has become a heavier style while still holding onto the Southern influences

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

Acoustic, Reggae, Pop, Metal

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

Whiskey Myers. I love their style of play

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

If you like Southern Rock, go listen to Blackberry Smoke. I feel they are the kings of the genre right now

Hark Rock with Southern influence

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Allman Brothers. Duane Allman was the man

Answer:

This song. It has all the feels injected into it

Black Crowes. Whiskey Myers. Blackberry Smoke

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

Always take in criticism and never pass up an opportunity to play different songs out of your comfort zone

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

Music connects people in ways I never thought possible until it hit me. Cross Candian Ragweed did this with their song "Walls of Huntsville"

What has been your scariest experience while pursuing music?
Answer:

Setting up a PA system myself and having it go horribly wrong during a set

How have your other passions reinforced your process of making music?
Answer:

I like to have other side projects to take my mind off of music it helps to disconnect from time to time

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

Playing Red Rocks. That would be the ultimate in my opinion

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

Whiskey Myers

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

I do practice a lot but that has changed significantly when you factor in the other time needing to be spent on marketing and songwriting

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

Collaborating with some of the biggest artists in music

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Post Malone, he swicthes his music up so much its easy to listen to. Cross Canadian Ragweed because they were my first favorite band. Allman Brothers because their soul and effort they put into every song is incredibly inspiring

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

Moved in a way that moved me and inspired me to get into music myself. That is the tremendous power of what a song can do.

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

Having a PA system go horribly wrong while playing a set
