MICHAEL ROSS KAKOOZA Perspective on Tukole

Im called MICHAEL ROSS KAKOOZA.A ugandan rnb/afrobeat singer, dancer and songwriter.

My background is african .And an immigrant living and working in the US.I wrote this song from experience living and hustling in the US chasing the american dream. And i know there are alot of other immigrants all over the world that can relate with it.

Today is the earliest memory of me listening to music.I listen to music everyday of my life.

Ive been a lover of music since my childhood.I was a dancer through out my teen years while going through high school and college.I decided to persue a full fledged singing and performing career at the age of 21.

This song is a blend of both afrobeats and amapiano.

My style has evolved according to the evolution of music over the years. However i havent lost the base roots which is rnb.And it this is reflected in all my songs that ive released lately.Including this one (TUKOLE)

MY themes are my everyday life. Every stage of my life whether joyful or painful is where i draw inspiration to write my music.

I would love to go on tour with USHER,MISSY,WIZKID and TEMS

I would descibe my favorite artists music as daring, invoking, inspirational and the ultimate soundtrack to life.

I would describe my music to some one who has never heard it before as. Inspirational, daring, reflective, spiritual and sincere.Because it comes from a very honest place.

USHER.I choose usher because he has been one of my greatest influencers over the years.Ive learned alot as an artist by following him.Theres alway something to learn from him. He delivers when it comes to the music and also his live performances.

Im yet to make my favorite song.Because i believe there always room for improvement.

USHER, R.KELLY and MICHAEL JACKSON. ALL these artists have something unique and they are all trendsetters in their own lanes.

MY dream performance is a 2hours concert with back to back hits in a stadium of about 90 thousand screaming fans in attendance. And abt 3 billion other fans watching live online.

USHER

In a dream

I want people to feel encouraged, uplifted and inspired.

Godly,Relatable, exceptional.

MY favourite way of sharing my music is through social media.

Yes i practice. My pratice hasnt really changed much.Except in afew isolated cases where i have to practice longer or diffrent for a show or particular video that has choreography in it.

The most memorable response ive had to my work is people commenting on my social media accounts about how my music has helped them through their relationships. Others have used my music on their weddings. That gives me a sense of purpose.

Success to me as an artist is using your GOD given gift to uplift, inspire and create joy.

I only want to continue doing what i do at an even higher level and on bigger platforms. As long as i stay true to who iam and what i stand for.

An artist's role today in our society is to uplift people through positively impactful music. Music that not only speaks to the heart but also speaks about the spiritual, political and social aspects that are part of the fabric of our society.

The song that best represents success to me is IF i RULED THE WORLD by NAS.He raps about being aruler living in a world where everybody is living good and we are all getting along. No Racism,Jealousy or crime.

MY scariest experience while persuing music is when me,my manager and a show promoter were driving through an on going civil war in south sudan in 2008. We were stopped at a road block by rebel soldiers that asked us all kinds of questions. What helped us was the fact that they had heard of me coming to perform in a small town called NIMULE.So they let us through.

MY most embarassing moment while persuing music is when i jumped onstage while GINUWINE was performing and i got tossed off. That sole incident overshadowed my career for w hile and became the highlight of my career back home in uganda.

If i could alter the music industry.I would enforce quality control. There's too many untalented artists out there singing all kinds of garbage. While the talented ones are struggling to be heard. I would make sure the music gets back to being uplifting and inspiring instead of being destructive.

Ive been a CNA.

Im a passionate lover. So that has come in handy many a times while writing and making music.

Being an artist hasnt made my life lonely. Im just picky at who i let into my space. And that applies to who i choose to date as well. By the time i give some one access to my space and attention. It means they have passed my test.

Life in itself is art in motion. Therefore there is inspiration all round us everyday. All i do is make my own interpretation. I guess thats what gives me an 'artistic outlook 'on life

My favorite work of art is my singing and dancing.

The mediums of art i most identify with are music and visuals

Comparison is one of the greatest forms of flattery. And while its inevitable to be compared to somebody i embrace it. With that said. The three artists i would like to be compared to are MICHAEL JACKSON,USHER and R.KELLY.

The most significant lesson ive learned through being an artist is PURPOSE. At first i did this for fun. Then i realised it can be a career. But for the years ive done this. Ive seen how my music has touched peoples lives for the better. Thats when i realised that this is my calling. My PURPOSE.

I can give you atleast 3 reasons driving me to continue doing music. But one of them is PASSION. I enjoy making music.

My over arching goal as an artist is to touch as many lives as possible with my music.
