Kara/M Perspective on Look What I've Done

This song is classic country. It comes from a very soulful place and it surfaces as an accessible country sound that resonates with the heart. Like a good country song, you can sing along and you will feel a little better after the last chorus, then you will play it again.

Only started Kara/M in the summer of 2023 and already have 50 songs composed and recorded.
Working with Stan has changed my musical life and so much more. I trust him, he is musically over educated (ha!) but has somehow managed to still have a childlike enthusiasm for music that is evident in his creations. His music has life and excitement, warmth, and joy. He has helped me reconnect with my voice, we've spent hours working on tone and vowels. I feel confident and at home in our partnership. Even though the possibilities are endless and music itself infinite, I'm proud of these small steps I've taken.

On the album "Walk in the Sun" I would say it's country without the twang.

Joyful, genuine, and driven.

I practice a lot, but I also teach. With teaching you really get to know your voice and what works and what doesn't.

I'm a singer songwriter from rural, small-town Minnesota, finds her musical influences from her Nordic heritage, made evident through her soulful, empathetic lyrics that call out human truths. I'm is inspired to write for people looking for their authentic path, looking for music that encourages, uplifts, challenges convention and energizes the soul. My lyrics have informed, positive and inspirational messages that unite the hearts of listeners, and she seeks to create music that challenges, uplifts and is fun and entertaining at the same time.

Kara/M is the song writing team of Kara Millerhagen and Stanford Felix. We both have extensive performance and composing experience as singers. Stan as an opera singer and professor of voice performance, and Kara in musical theater and popular singing groups. Both have been composing most of their lives in many different genres, including clossical, jazz, R&B, country, pop and rock.

Led Zeppelin, Earth Wind and Fire, Pavarotti, Charlie Parker, and Ella Fitzgerald. All are best at what they do.

By writing good melodies, great lyrics, being well played, recorded and mixed. By being persistant.

As I child, I remember sitting on the sofa while my mother played her records. The music was mostly big band or Gospel music. I would sit and rock to the music. My sisters and I sang in harmony as children. We were always singing. I still like to rock to the music.
