Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

I am Naami! I write prose over the illest shit and the tastemaker is ME.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

I didn't have much attention towards material things, I was always very observant and curious. Im Mexican and I came to the US when I was 8-9 and had to learn english, you know the whole thing. I definitely see how the culture corporations influence is deadly to our potential. This song is addressing that culture.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

My grandpa would teach me a couple songs that I would then be singing when I was really little.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I was 18 and in a relationship that was definitely deteriorating whilst also living out COVID-19.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

From cryptic and trippy, to a more conventional style with double meanings and a tweaked out hip hop that I love.

Answer:

Life perspectives, consciousness, and mushrooms trips.

Answer:

Man, Kendrick Lamar is the one.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

Man, Id say:

Hard ass poetry, that makes you relate to the images it projects immediately to the point where you are seeing ideas in your mind rather than just the music or lyrics. You gotta run it back and it makes you love it more.

Packed out show in San Diego with funds going to a foundation that supports education on how the system works for a furthering of our collective awareness and potential.

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

Kendrick Lamar is definitely the one person I would love to craft a song with, but really craft it with a curiosity and desire to find something beyond culture and into the realms of imagination.

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

i was in a classroom when i first heard x

Answer:

i want them to feel something that shows them a new or forgotten part of their selves.

Not having a penny, loving my music and knowing that my pursuit might be hurting me.

Being wayyyy too high while meeting some people and then passing out LMAO

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

I would look into developing a way for the consumer to own albums piece of the records that are sold.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

Behavioral Therapist for kids on the spectrum, PreK teacher, Delivery for good and also Amazon Flex, Customer Service Representative. Oh MAN

How have your other passions reinforced your process of making music?
Answer:

They are all connected if I see something I love it will put me in a creative space.

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

The way I want to have a conversation is challenging and thats because of how I want to seek the truth and how that may be something that not everyone is comfortable with. It comes from how I make music too.

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

To know it all holds significance because it is here.

personally, i wanna live life like art and so i intend to express liberation through all my endeavors, this is for community, a culture of love and unity.

 

I want to establish a non-profit that furthers all of these principles.
