We hope you enjoy and please feel free to ask Colin Roach anything!
Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

My name is Colin and I'm a solo creative making music and many other things in my free time. I make music about my life and what I'm thinking about in those moments. These songs are a real representation of my journey and experiences. I do this in hopes that people will relate to my songs and feel more understood in their own life.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

My song Running Laps is a representation of my own life and my struggle with things changing. It's about both love and life, how much of a struggle it is for me to be able to fully step away from certain things. How often I find myself stuck in the same place.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

When I first got an mp3 music player. This was when I was a little kid, and I had downloaded The Killers "Day and Age" album onto it. I just remember playing the song Spaceman off that album over and over again everywhere I went. It made me so happy to have that thing.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

This was about a year ago now. Before this time, I had played guitar for about a year and really enjoyed it. Since the beginning, I've always recorded freestyles while playing the guitar on voice memos but never thought to try writing something. That was until the day I finally sang a song in front of my family for the first time. For some reason, I was really afraid of playing in front of people. After that day I opened Garage Band and recorded my first two songs that night, Beside you, and The Same. And I've been doing it ever since.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

Indie Alternative

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

I think it's gotten a lot better! I started recording my songs with earbud microphones on Garage Band, and I've now bought equipment and FL Studio. I've learned so much about mixing and sound quality this year. I have a much better idea these days of what I want my songs to be and think there is a lot more consistency in my sound.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

Loneliness and frustration with one's self. Most of my songs are about wishing I could change things for the better but being unable to act.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

My dream artists would be probably Current Joys, Beabadoobee, and Beachhouse. Not really sure why, but I guess these artists inspired me to try all kinds of things soundwise. And I just love their music.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

Just extremely real, and relatable. Most of my favorite artists have songs that at least sound personal and I find that's really important for me to like a song.
