Wes Lee the Wordsmith Perspective on R'ejouir Step

Mick Jenkins or Common. I resonate heavily with their creative energy and overall brands. They are also two MC's that have had a huge impact on my journey as an artist. They both prioritize potent value and masterful penmanship.

I was first introduced to poetry in gradeschool as a part of our lesson plan. It was cool to learn about, but it didn't truly resonate with me until my younger sister passed away. At that point poetry became my coping mechanism of choice to navigate tragedy. After I performed many times and had saw the impact that my artistry had on others, I decided to commit myself to multiplying that experience and making a positive impact on as many people as possible through my art.

I want people to feel refreshed, empowered, and like they received something beneficial.

Hip hop primarily. However, the producer (CSquared) grew up playing in churches so you can hear the gospel influence in the production.
