How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?

Answer:

I would tell them one part John Prine, one part Jimmy Buffet and a pinch of Neil Young and you will have made a Gary McMahon song.

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?

Answer:

Honest, kind, and funny.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?

Answer:

I have not reached that point yet.

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?

Answer:

Great question! For me success is a feelng that I get when I have completed the creation process. It is a quiet feeling that has a bit of awstruck to it.

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?

Answer:

We're all artists. Art provides an opportunity to remove the persona and look deeper into ourselves and others. It is a search for authenticity. The artistic endeavor is a portal into unknown but exciting places and spaces. It's a Hero's Journey.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?

Answer:

My favorite song of mine - probably Losing My Name. It explores the idea that we are so much more than our ego. To lose our given name and all the cultural, religious etc expectations and roles that have been put upon us and find that eternal spark, your spirit, your true self is what the song is all about.
