What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

shine is a pretty straight forward indie rock song that leans slightly on a little bit of alt-county for flavor

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

I have been playing and recording post-rock music for many years but have always had a place in my heart for dreampop, country and shoegaze.  Over the last 3 years I have found my personal songs edging toward these other genres and have been wanting to explore this and so i started recording these songs as faded saddle

Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

my name is chris and have written, played and recorded songs in and with the bands Plasticville, The Food, Doodrr and The Knot Sew Suite.  I have been banking away some songs that didnt fit with any of these other bands and have finally been able to make time to get them recorded and released out into the world

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

i have grown up with a love for music.  i was in band and choir in school.  i had been recording some music on my own just for fun and hadnt really considered myself to be a musician or artist until my friend Slade Wheeler suggested we start a band together.  We formed the band Plasticville and I think that is the day that i finally decided that this was something that i could do as an artist.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

the themes of my songs vary and I tend to try and make them ambiguous on purpose.  i find that inspiration can come from so many places like personal relationships, books, movies, artwork, places and things we've seen.  i try and weave these things together in an interesting way so the lyrics can be attributed to almost any story, place or personal experience.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

If i could only listen to three music artists for the rest of my life, i would choose Cocteau Twins, The Beatles and Tom Waits.  The music of these three really speak to my soul.

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

if i were to define having an artistic outlook on life, i would say that it requires an aquired or inherent interest in creation and an appreciation for the externalization of emotion.  I think that most artists i know can "feel" the arts.  this may be the best indicator of how good a piece of art is also; can the emotion of the piece be felt?  sometimes that emotion may be fun excitement and other times may be sadness or wonder.  it is finding these things in the seemingly mundane at times too.  it is being open to experienceing these things, taking them in, feeling them and then expressing and sharing them in another way for others to experience and embrace as well.
