What is your favorite way of sharing your music?
Answer:

I used to use SoundCloud but haven't gotten as much traction as I'd like. It looks like Youtube is where I'll put most of my focus for the near future.

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Quirky, Intelligent, Fun!

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

I hope that it rocks when it needs to. I also would like it to be moving, uplifting, or comforting. Same as the feelings other artists have stirred in me.

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

Somewhere between Youtube background music and a film canister at a dead-drop south of Reno.

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

Someone who is a great songwriter and enjoys the whole process. I do tend to write "in my head" a lot with various artists in mind.  Maybe someone like Morrissey or Willie Nelson or someone who composes for Broadway.

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

Something like The Backyard in Austin. It's a great amphitheater with a lot of natural rock around it. Like a mini Red Rock amphitheater. And at least once, I'd love to see a crowd as huge as Live Aid. So, maybe getting to perform at a festival?

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Elvis, because you really cant go wrong with Elvis. U2 because I listened to them so much during my formative years.  Whitney Houston because she's the greatest vocalist in a century!

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

This remains to be determined. I get excited about songs and quickly abandon them. But I do have a couple I think represent good songwriting. One of those is called 'Havana', the others are 'Haunted' and "Stella and Marie'. I plan on rerecording these in the future. They are early works and definitely sound like they were done in a home studio by someone without a clue ;-)

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Prince or Tom Petty

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

I would just list my influences and hope that they can hear them throughout. Bands like U2, The Smiths, Duran Duran, The Cure, Boston, INXS, Indigo Girls, Bob Dylan and too many more to name.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

Anthemic to moody to soulful.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

You know, I'm not really sure. I have a fear of meeting musical heroes and finding out that I don't like them as people. I think would be very uncomfortable. If he were still, alive, though, I'd love to hang out with Roy Orbison.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

Personal and sometimes political themes. A lot my writing comes from working through feelings. I hope to branch out, though, and try to create fictional musical spaces in the spirit of Bowie. Maybe a Ziggy Stardust character.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

Maybe a little more ambient? I'm not sure because I like to write in a lot of different genres, and I have a lot of material that remains to be recorded and released.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

I consider it a rock song, but I've had people tell me it reminds me them of The Cure, INXS, or some type of gothic jam.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I don't know if I ever really decided as much as I just felt so much enjoyment singing and writing that I assumed it was my natural calling.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

The earliest melody that ever moved me to tears actualy came out of a little toy clock I had when I was very little. Beyond that, my family was always playing music in the car and around the house.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

Shame On The Moon was years in the making, and could still evolve as I grow my ability to create better recordings. It's mostly an allegory about relationships, addictions, and ambition.

Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

I'm a Texas-based singer/songwriter living near DFW. I play guitar, write lyrics, melodies, the works. I have had to turn myself into a one person band, but hope this will change in the future!

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

Not as much as I should lately. I used to play and write every single day without fail. Now I'm focused on learning how to get as much work done as I can at home -- ie, learning to use my DAW and wear both engineer and producer hats.

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

Cool but unlistenable, lol

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

I would encourage people to keep exploring ways of bringing back the old mediums. I know not everyone wants to go back to vinyl and huge home stereos, but there is definitely something missing now that everything just streams online. I'm really happy to see so many artists putting out actual albums that come with the lyrics sleeves, the photos, etc. One of the best things in the world is the smell of a new album or cd that you can hold and read while you listen to the music.
