Serge Clivio Perspective on Your Love Is King

I grew up listening to a lot of different genres of music by a mulititude of different artists. When I first was introduce to Sade by my Uncle Chris, I was blown away by the songwriting, vocal quality and musical arrangements of the group. After learning more about how they are a world-wide treasure, I quickly became a fan for life. Sade is honest in their music, and it was important to bring my own authencity to this track.

Producing Your Love Is King was a very specific process! It is the opening track on the album (and not to mention that the original song is a near perfect record). Mike Stapleton also served as a lead producer on this track and we wanted to create the purest sound with the instruments being the centerpiece of the recording. From opening with the sax solo (by Nathan See), the instruments take center stage while the vocals color the story.
