Apostola Perspective on Best Summer Ever

Madonna, Tori Amos, Prince: versatile, expansive, innovative, interesting, engaging.

Too many things to mention. Sadly, like most industries, it has become about money and power rather than a quality product. Indie artists know a lot about this and the true inner workings of the industry, and believe me, it is not pretty. There are many forces out there trying to stamp out indies because they are exactly that; 'independents' who do not have to answer to puppet masters or purse holders regarding what they can release and how they should look. That can be threatening to stakeholders.
And I have heard some indie artists that truly run rings around what is released by the majors and who sadly won't get their chance to shine because the industry - like most things - is what a certain high set of individuals or entities have decided it should be. As such I would encourage true music lovers to explore the beaten track of music and discover indie artists.

To reach the ears of those who will truly appreciate and enjoy my music.

This particular release is pop, dance pop, electro-pop, electro dance pop, commerical pop, Top 40 pop - depending on who is defining the genres!

Day 1. And that is that!
From as young as four I can remember wanting nothing more than to perform. As to what then followed... that is a long, hard road I am still travelling and will continue to travel for as long as there is song in me. As to where the destination will lead, I don't expect fireworks, but I would like to leave a legacy of music behind that I know some people somewhere enjoyed.
When I was very young, until my teen years, it never occurred to me that dreams don’t always materialize! I presumed that if you had a dream and you went for it, you were surely destined for that special thing that is the very essence of your being.
Then came the hard lesson that no one owes you the career or success you crave just because you love something, and it is physically impossible for every person who has a dream to fully achieve it, and this is irrespective of whether someone is worthy of it or not (many talented people do not find success and many mediocre people do – that is simply the way the world works!) That's okay... the fact that indie artists have the tools to professionally record and release music is a huge deal and we (indies) celebrate the micro victories and do it purely for the love of our art!

I will be showing my age here! My first album (on vinyl) which I requested for my 5th birthday was Adam and the Ants - Prince Charming. There was a little dance to it which I did around the living room to the LP.
After that came my biggest, major influence... Madonna! My love for the Queen of Pop began when her own career started (showing my age again!) and her music evokes memories from every single stage of my life. Some say that they can hear twinges of Madonna in my voice, which is a great compliment. I emulated Madonna and wanted a career path like hers with concerts of colourful costume and dancing.
Thereafter came a more diverse range of artists (always singer-songwriters); Prince and Tori Amos being the top two. I tend to listen to mostly female singer-songwriters with too many to name (different genres) and can appreciate the majority of musical genres if the melody, hook and songwriting are there!

This particular track is one of my fun, upbeat pop tracks. It was made to capture that wonderful feeling of when you know that you finally get some time out... the chance to leave the everyday grind behind and enjoy your holiday/vacation... to savour every second so it is the BEST SUMMER EVER!
The style is dance/electro pop and it's a fast-paced, positive track that narrates the moment of getting away and enjoying hot summer days and fun summer nights.
It was released as both a standalone single and part of the 'Summer EP' of four tracks, alongside popular 'Summertime is for Dancing', 'Suitcase Full of Dreams' and the more laid-back 'My Heart Belongs to an Island', creating a summer pop playlist of holiday 'anthems'.
As for my own summer personality, I am 100% a mermaid! I love the sea over the pool and that special moment when you first get in and feel its cooling and refreshing effect wash over you. I like cold sea water :) And I love shell hunting and have a huge collection. I feel very at peace in the seawater. My mind calms and I just immerse myself in that time, but I am not a sun bather! Summer is also the time of year I enjoy my favourite fruits - watermelons and cherries - and outside dining in traditional taverns laden with homemade, local dishes that are made for sharing with friends and family. Bliss! Summer is also sandal season and as I hate wearing closed shoes, I can’t wait to get my toes out, coupled with a healthy and gentle sun-kissed glow on my skin.

I am Apostola; an emerging singer/songwriter with a passion for lyrics and melodies that tell stories!
My music catalogue might seem a bit confusing as I release both lighter commercial pop and more serious adult contemporary/indie pop. I believe that humans are not 'one thing' and this applies to music taste too... I am sure most music listeners have a variety of artists and genres in their music collection. And as we have different life phases, moods and experiences, music should capture a range of emotions and experiences. I balance my releases and love doing all kinds of music on the pop spectrum.
My lack of images, video and social media posting may seem odd for a female in the music industry, but I prefer to stay behind the camera rather than in front of it, and just concentrate on writing and singing tracks that I feel have a message or convey an emotion that I think (and hope) may resonate with listeners. Pop along to my FB page as that is where I post!
