Tara Hack Perspective on Feelings

My name is Tara Hack and I am a singer/songwriter from New York. My father worked as a conductor on the Long Island Rail Road, and as a teen, I would sometimes accompany him to work. We would both notice musicians busking for tips inside Penn Station. My dad suggested that I give it a try, a suggestion that changed the course of my professional life as a performing musician.

Busking has created tremendous opportunities for me; my performances at Penn Station (NYC) and Atlantic Terminal (Brooklyn) funded a recording trip to Abbey Road Studios. It was in England that I gained the attention of producers Benny D (Boy George, Kylie Minogue), and Nick Coler (Sugababes), and writers Phil Pickett (Karma Chameleon) and Joe "2 Ton" Killington. Together we wrote and released this track.

I remember driving in the car with my dad and listening to a lot of his music - Billy Joel, T-Rex, Rod Stewart. He introduced me to a variety of genres. When I first embarked on my musical journey doing small gigs and busking in New York, my sound was rooted in raw emotion and simple melodies reflecting the genuine stories I wanted to share. As time has gone on, I’ve found myself drawn to experimenting with different genres and sounds, pushing the boundaries of what I thought I could achieve. My style has evolved into a fusion of folk, pop, and even a touch of R&B, allowing me to explore new avenues of self-expression. Yet, at the core, my songs (I hope!) still bear the essence of heartfelt storytelling and personal experiences – but now with a more refined and versatile musical backdrop

As long as I can remember. My brother had a toy guitar, which was for a righty but I would play it lefty, and my parents have videos of me making up songs as young as 4. Growing up, I got much more into music, playing at family parties and gatherings with my friends and decided from a very early age that this was what I loved doing most and was born to pursue.

This is definitely more of a disco, dance-pop type of song.

My soul - as an artist you have to create to maintain any sense of balance.
