Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

My name is Arbil I'm an Actor/R&B recording artist I started working in the industry for Motown as a hairdresser for the group "SWITCH" from 1979 to 1980. I worked on all of their albums did their hair for the album covers, soul Train appearances and their tiger flower world tour I've been a member of SAG since 1995 the first movie I worked on was Mabo Kings next project was Eddie Murphys Nuttie Professor next I was Denzel washingtons stand-in for the movie Crimson tides and Fallen soon after that I co-starred in the movie "Riot" staring Geary Daniel's and sugar ray Lenard  after that I was a regular on the moesha show as Professor Olgavee assistant. Then in 2008 I recorded my first album "The Truth" "Let me get my groove on" down to "intimate confessions, R&B 19 party to Antidote about to release my 7th album "Here I am"

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

In my song I sing about relationships I talk about what can we do to make things better my songs are positive and uplifting all of my songs that I sing about they are all personal experiences 

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

My Dad was a studio musician he played for Shirley Scott, Stanley turpentine, and wilton Felder, my uncle was Billy Higgins the famous jazz drummer. My father was also In the navy when he would go out to sea I would stay up all night with my mother as worked on the sewing machine making dresses for her friends and listening to Marvin Gaye, Martha Reeves and James Brown

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

After the passing of my mother and Father my father passed first in 2000 then five years later my mother passed I was still working in the film industry at that time I was so devastated I stopped working in films from 2005 to 2008 my sister Robin and my brother Buddy encouraged me to do the music because they told me why give up a gift that God gave you don't do that show the world the gift God has given you.

Answer:

Would like to think that my music is for everyone male and female 

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

I would like to think that every three years my music changes due to outside influence 

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

The grind continues, and stay on your grind and stay in your lane. 

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

If I was able to go on tour with someone it would be with Usher I like his performance and I like the way he does business the other artists would be Janet Jackson she is a awesome performer and I think I could learn a lot from her.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

The other artist I enjoy watching is King Bobby Brown and the way I would describe him is "If you remember "N̈ew Edition" he was the bad boy of the group with great vocals who would later marry Whitney Houston.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

My music is very moving it makes you Bob your head when you first hear it you can't sit still it make you want to move.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Maya she is so explosive and sexey with her music I could listen to her music all day long.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

Twelve O'clock creep is a song I wrote it happens to be one of my favorite songs because I talk about creeping over to your girlfriends place at 12 midnight and we know what goes on after 12 midnight what inspired me to write that song I remember my mother telling my sisters to be in the house at 10 pm and don't come stumbling in the house after 12 midnight cuz the only thing open after 12 midnight are legs, hum mom's she was right.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Maya, Janet and Chris Brown. I can feel their music I understand everything they are talking about I can relate to what they talk about in their songs.

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

A dark stage with blue and green lights hitting the stage as I walk back and forth with smoke crawling on the floor as I sing along with the audience as they sing along with me to one of my songs.

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

My dream artist to collaborate would be King Bobby Brown. 

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

In the elevator. 

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

Listen to the story that I'm tell and if they know the song sing along with me. 

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Always stay focused. 

What is your favorite way of sharing your music?
Answer:

Going to my Spotify page and grabbing a link to one of my songs and posting it.

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

Yes I Take two day out of a week to practice my vocals and dance. Each time I practice I notice something different that I would need to do to make my preference better.

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

Last year I did a performance in Los Vegas while I was preforming a lady threw her black lace underwear up on the stage I never stopped singing ßI just reached down and picked them up then put them in my pocket. I was about to leave the club and she grabbed me by the hand and pulled my arm down and whispered in my ear "um can I get my underwear back" I gave them to her she kissed me on the cheek and asked for a selfie then walked away. 

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

To me success is when I can see the fruits of what my talents have taken me to. Being able to do what I want to do buy what I want to buy and no stress in my life.

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

Staying focused on what in need to do to continue pushing the envelope to my music career and continue to give my fans what they want "Good music "

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

The role is to continue to try and change to the world and make the world a better place to live in. 

Name a song that best represents success to you, and why?
Answer:

On̈e of my songs that I wrote called "I got that Antidote " the reason that song represents success to me is because I talk about being the Antidote to any women's problems. 

What has been your scariest experience while pursuing music?
Answer:

When I was on tour with "SWITCH" me and one of the members of the group saw this kid in the after party I don't know how he got in he was just standing around looking he looked out of place he was only 16 years old. I walked up to him and asked him if he was alright he said no, he went on to tell us he had been following us since the beginning of the tour from NY and he had ran out of money and had no way to get their.  Then he said I have a pound of weed to sale all he wanted was a plane ticket to get home. Some of the guys put together their money and gave the kid $500 dallers. That messed me up in the head my thought was how could a parent allow their child to follow anyone with no supervision anything could have happened to that kid.

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

The most embarrassing moment for me was performing with fly down while in commando mode.

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

The way I would alter the music Industry is making sure all artist are paid what is due to them with out all the BS and red tape. We as artist are creating the music for the people as well as performing it I feel we should get our just due. We work hard at what we do we should be compensated for what we do.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

Short hand cook, construction worker, architect, hairdresser and a Actor.
