Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

What's the deal family my name is Johnny, I go by Gahtdamnjohnny. I'm an upcoming artist and producer born and raised in West LA. I went to Hamilton high school, use to perform at the infamous World on wheels all thanks to my good friend DJ dizz, but not too long after that in 2013 I moved to Las Vegas where I dove into production a lot more. 2020 I moved back home to LA and quickly realized I wanted to get into music as an artist again but a lot more serious than before. Worked on this EP for about a year and a half before finally releasing it in April 2024. This is my first professional project and I'm more than happy to share my experience and journey within the music to my audience. I hope you all enjoy.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

My background has been nothing less of a blessing and withing the journey of finding myself as an artist I was able to develop a sound that I personally love.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

My first time I fell in love with music was when my big brother SPthesoulprophet showed me how to make beats when I was 10 years old on a software called hip hop Ejay. I remember almost having a panic attack at school because I wanted to make beats so bad and could not focus until I went home and did music. That's when I knew I fell in love with something deeper than I could understand.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I decided to become an artist when I was around 19 or 20 years old. I started performing at World on wheels and many pool and block parties in the neighborhood again thanks to DJ Dizz who would always promote my music and get my name out there. Songs like "I don't need you" and "oh yup" had my fan base moving! They knew me as Johnnyboiifresh from freshlyne ent.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

This Genre is hip hop for sure. With a mix of melodic tones and cadence.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

My sound back in the day was more aggressive and heavily influenced by the jerk era and west coast artist in general.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

Now and days I go for the club sound and fast tempo. Something people can dance to and enjoy.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

If I could tour with any artist right now it would be Kalan frfr or Travis Scott.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

my favorite artist today is and will always be Young Dolph. The only way I can describe his music is he was the most transparent artist I ever heard coming from where he came from and his beat selection was insane! Nobody had his style of rapping and engagement all while saying things that could save your life and or make you think about life in a different perspective.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

My music will always make you dance because that's what I love to do.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Young Dolph. Because he's incredible straight up.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

Lights out has to be my favorite song and was actually the last song I made on my EP. It gives me a club feel between The Dream "I love your girl" and T-Pain "can't believe it". Those songs for me are 1 of 1. The feeling can't be replicated but I was definitely inspired by both of those artist while making this track.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Young Dolph, Lil Wayne, Future

no explanation.

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

My dream performance would be me coming out after my streams hit 2 million and the whole crowd knows my songs.

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

I would love to collaborate with suga free and DJ quik

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

Most likely in the strip club.

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

I want them to be care free when they are listening to my music. Just have fun.

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Energetic, fun and funny

What is your favorite way of sharing your music?
Answer:

I share my music through Spotify and Apple Music.

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

I'm always shootin in the gym when it comes to this music. You can never be too good to practice. Just when you thought you found a certain pocket or sound, practicing will have you discovering things about yourself as an artist you never knew before.

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

I was on Timberland's twitch after I had submitted my beats as a producer and he gave me and my work the biggest praise as he freestyled and separated me from the other producers. Attention was what they collectively agreed on that I had as they listened to all 3 tracks.

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

You measure success by the amount of fun you have in the process.
when it's no longer fun you are no longer successful.

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

The energy behind the music will change the way the audience receives it.
