Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

Im Robert Volkoff, I am a solo project that writes, records and mixes. Life Renewed has always been a vehicle to connect with fans and collaborate 

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

This song is part of a concept Ep that tell the journey of a person who Who has reached Rockbottom in their life and is going through some retrospection and self discovery to find out where they are they meant to go and what their future holds 

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

I've always been a fan of music as young as I can remember from listening to classical while doing my studies being homeschooled or enjoying theme songs from TV shows, but specifically to the genre of rock and metal that I am a part of my first memory is my father Playing Korn Secretly and his workshop and me going to his workshop and sitting down and listening to the "Life is peachy" Record

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I found a nylon string guitar in my attic and started playing around with it and trying to figure out classical pieces of music and it's been a journey ever since

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

The most common term would be Metalcore, but if you are a fan of rock and metal as a whole, you may find parts of this that you may enjoy

Some specific influences are bands like forevermore, Phinehas, Killswitch Engage, Silent planet & invent animate

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

I have focused more on composing and songwriting, then writing songs that show off any Technical prowess

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

Positive messages, Faith, self reflection, and introspection

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

demon Hunter or Phinehas, their music & message has been impactful for my life

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

It is a genre known as metal core but if you have never heard of metal, I would combine iron maiden and Metallica with some Harsh vocals

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

It is an overall blend of rock and metal and metal core blending different styles and personal taste in that genre

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Strapping on the lad at least once and Phinehas any day of the week

 

 

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

A song called vision revision from life renewed is very special to me and has a lot of personal sentimental value

My current collaboration with solo artist, Mindy Jackson with her one breath away is one of my crowning achievements

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Phinehas, Thousand Foot Krutch, breaking Benjamin

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

An arena or stadium tour with my favorite bands

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

Vocalist of Phinehas, thousand foot Krutch or demon hunter

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

Church or a restaurant 

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

Just to give it an honest chance, even if you like one section of a song or lyric or instrumentation section

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Passionate, transparent, driven

What is your favorite way of sharing your music?
Answer:

Facebook is the main area where I promote and share my music and stories

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

I don't practice as much I like to play at least one day a week to keep my hands capable of playing guitar

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

Seeing the overwhelming amount of people who were brought the tears to my current collaboration with Mindy Jackson was very heartfelt

Many years ago in my first gigging project, I wrote lyrics in my EP that impacted people and gave people motivation

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

Follow with your heart says and do what no one else will do even if no one supports you

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

Doing my very best to write quality instrumentations, but focus more on the message to connect with people and let my words and lyrics be a form of motivation and inspiration

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

I believe the value of art has Decreased but art is very essential to life

What has been your scariest experience while pursuing music?
Answer:

Nearly going bankrupt putting all of my money time and work into building a project

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

Performing poorly on a stage for a large crowd

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

Put a lot more emphasis on independent and rising artist, instead of continually feeding, establish and legacy acts 

Promoting Music and exposure is crucial for artists to breakthrough and have a fair chance of having someone listen to their music before it's too late and you never know when you write a song that might make it impact

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

I have been a full-time construction and tradesmen

How have your other passions reinforced your process of making music?
Answer:

They have told me the value of hard work and being able to provide for myself and make music and not rely on pursuing something that would lead to me being unhappy and not having control of my art, relying on a label to fund my music and put me in debt

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

my social life and personal ventures is not understood by many so losing friendships not having deep connections with people and spending every waking moment that's not dedicated to my day job to enhancing my career has made it to where I don't have hobbies or lots of friends

 

Making sure that I take care of my mental health and my physical health and still prioritize my music as much as I can

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

Spending a lot of my time, investing in educating myself and continually connecting and collaborating, even in conversation with fellow artists

What is your favorite work of art?
Answer:

Classical music by composers

Which mediums of art do you most identify with?
Answer:

Anything music related spoken word, and poetry

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

Never give up on yourself and music no matter how much you lose how normal believes you or it feels like giving up is the only way to go

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

Mental health and therapy for myself and others for relatability

What is your overarching goal as an artist?
Answer:

It would be an absolute dream to be able to have my music be self-sufficient so I wouldn't have to work 80 to 100 hours to be able to fund my musical dreams and take care of my personal life and be able to dedicate more time to creating and perfecting my craft 

 

Connecting with as many people on a personal level through the music, I released to the world and collaborating with as many people as possible
