Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

I started to play around with synthesisers and drum machines a few years ago.  At that time I was learning to play the piano and realised I could create more interesting sounds and sequences using a synth.  As soon as i figured out how to sync with a drum machine I was hooked.

Since then I've learned to use logic as well as the hardware and came to realise that i could draw influences from all of the music i have been into over the years. also from my days djing in the late 80s early 90s when i was fortunate enough to be at the forefront of the house and balearic music scene.

I created the idea of the Brookvale Concept where i would build a track from any music influence.  The first track i produced Forbidden (Aphrodite's Ball) was inspired by the Radiohead track 'Weird Fishes'.  Just loved the chord progression and use of the arp in that track,

Distecqa has now evolved and i will maintain the original concept but further explore the possiblities of sound organically maintaining a tribal essence,

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

This song was  orginally inspired by my passion for percussion, I then added a trancy synth feel with an acid climax.

I guess it reflects aspects of the house music scene through it's history from the early TB 303 sound, the big room trancy sound of the mid 90s then the wonderful Iberican tribal sounds that came out of Madrid in the early 2000s.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

I was 8 years old when I bought my first record.  Telegram Sam by T-rex.

Then raised on a repeat loop of the Top 40 UK hits played through my mum's tape recorder every day!
