Malaki Alighieri Perspective on Leave It All To Rest

The song actually has two meanings. One is the more real and personal meaning, which is leaving negative memories behind to focus on new ones. It was written about an old friend of mine who I've struggled to see eye to eye with over the years, but I would rather leave all the bad times in the past and focus on the good. The other meaning is actually about the story the album this song is on is based off, which is Purgatorio (the sequel to Dante's Inferno). This song takes place on the third terrace of Mount Purgatory, also known as Wrath. Souls on this terrace are punished for their wrath by walking around in a thick fog, representing blind anger. The lyrics reference this too.
