Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

I am DMinor of MMENT and a singer/songwriter/producer/engineer that graduated from SAE-MIAMI.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

I created this song with meeting a new female at a cookout that I've never seen before, just to bring fun and good times back to music.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

My earliest memory of listening to music would be being a little kid and sleeping with the radio quiet storm jams on and hearing them in my sleep it always relaxed me and took me to another place in my imagination.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

As I got older in high school was when I said I want to do this and the feeling just got stronger and stronger as I approached my dreams.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

This release plays into more RnB and Rap because of the featured Rap artist on the record.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

Oh man! My sound has completely gotten better because of my experiences and the expectations I've put on myself to be the best student of music I can possibly be. I always want to be open to learning more about my craft.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

As far as themes I'm not sure what this question is referring to but I'm open to great ideas and I incorporate what I've learned into my music where I see fit.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

It would definitely be Babyface because he's one of the best producers, songwriters that really inspired me because of his long list of collaborations and his experience in the industry and I'd learn so much valuable information to use and grow as an artist. And you never hear of anything bad about him always great things.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

Just listen with your heart open not only your ears but definitely let your heart feel it.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

My music is old mixed with the new and it's all really about me and my experiences never about anything I didn't do or I have never seen so it's authentically me. And I don't put myself in a box I am able to be flexible in any genre of music.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Prince because he was talented as a performer and could play every instrument on stage. 

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

My favorite song would have to be "How You Doin" because it was my first video I actually put out all on my own no help.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Babyface, Chris Brown and Bob Marley. These three give me the perfect balance of love, energy and nostalgic moments in life.

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

Millions of ppl singing along to every one of my songs whether it be online or in person on stage I want everyone to have the DMinor experience.

Answer:

Babyface

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

Listening to jazz music I never thought I would take a big liking to jazz as I do now.

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

I want ppl to feel love and understanding as if I'm right there with them in the thick of their situations.

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

HE IS AMAZING!

What is your favorite way of sharing your music?
Answer:

Any social media site period.

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

I don't necessarily practice but I get better with every song I produce I find ways to keep the listener into it and I challenge my vocal limits.

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

When going to SAE-MIAMI my instructor who recorded with Michael Jackson wanted to rerecord one of my records with a live band and it came out amazing!

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

Success to me is just being able to be performing in front of ppl that love music the way I do and to be recognized for bringing a great sound back to music that is different from anybody else's. 

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

Just by being a student of the game and being open to change.

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

Influence no matter if it's good or bad they play a major role.

Name a song that best represents success to you, and why?
Answer:

My song How You Doin because nobody can say I did that for him I did it all on my own and it came out great to me.

What has been your scariest experience while pursuing music?
Answer:

Not scary, but frustrating because ppl have alterior motives and I get frustrated when it's all about money and not the talent or the support.

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

Forgetting my lyrics while on stage.

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

I would want it non profit because music should be freely given and expressed to whomever wants to share their love for it but obviously handling the business side without ppl falling out over money.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

Military veteran.

How have your other passions reinforced your process of making music?
Answer:

I draw and I'm a barber so these are artistic expressions so I can be creative with all of them.

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

Yes it can be when ppl don't love it the way I do I can break a whole song down from beat to melodies to lyrics and put them back together again and most don't get my passion in music.

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

Creativity is your canvas so create your vision just the way you see it no matter what anyone else says.

What is your favorite work of art?
Answer:

My favorite work of art would have to be my kids because they all have their own piece of me but yet they are their own individuals.

Name three artists you’d like to be compared to.
Answer:

Not sure because I love being my own individual so anyone that has had longevity in the music business and continue to grow.

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

You have to learn as much as you can about your craft. Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do.

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

I was told I couldn't do it so I'm doing it without the support of those that I've supported so that drives me.

What is your overarching goal as an artist?
Answer:

To be remembered for showing love to all ppl when they meet me or have had the chance to meet me and leave a great impression on whomever that person or persons may be.

Do you have a distinct way of making music, how do you work?
Answer:

I create a beat then transfer it to pro tools and create a song.

Walk us through your music creation process, specifically for this song.
Answer:

I wanted a florida sound with bass n 808s and a cookout vibe or club vibe just having a good time and it came out that way.

Do you prefer working alone or collaborating with others? How does this influence your sound?
Answer:

I enjoy both.

Do you have any particular methods that help you flush out your creativity while making music?
Answer:

Maybe some smoke n a shot of tequila.

Answer:

Every aspect.

Maybe a hundred or so.

Answer:

Ableton and ProTools.

Answer:

There's too many but most definitely reverb, delay and auto tune if you're a singer just be creative and standout.

What is the best advice you've received to improve the production quality of your music?
Answer:

Use my ears they don't lie.

What was the biggest drawback when producing this track?
Answer:

Releasing the video making the track was easy.

What is your favorite instrument to work with, and why?
Answer:

I don't play an instrument but I love chords and session horns and 808s.

Answer:

Inspiration is a must.

2 hours to complete a song beat and all.

My harmonies.

Dj Mustard because I love how he utilizes the west coast sound but he kills the 808s.

Answer:

Most definitely.

It works as long as you have a good marketing strategy and team.

How You Doin because it's my first video that I did all the work on and the ppl in the video.

Not yet but soon to come I can't wait for the experience.

Definitely because it shows what I'm capable of.

Answer:

Yes because you had to interact with ppl more and I'd rather be around real ppl so they can get the full experience of who I am.

Negativity like negative comments that may mess with anyone's self esteem and may want to make them cause harm to themselves.

Everyday is an experience to be shared.

The good old days of really talking to a woman without texting.
