m1L Perspective on On Fire

Interesting question: I recently created and dedicated a song about my mother called "Love Letter" which was released on Mother's Day 2024. The song was heavily influenced by my childhood growing up in a single-parent environment with no father figure around. I also speak on her having to take on the full responsibility of raising not only myself but my older brother as well as certain elements of life that we could not control. It's essentially a reflection on how she tried her absolute best even though the odds were against her and succeeded. Very emotional track. If you haven't heard it yet, please have a listen. I appreciate all the love and support from everyone!

I occasionally get writer's block every now and again. What usually works for me is leaving the project be and revisiting the work at a later time when another idea comes about. You never really want to force music.

Personal experiences. Nothing draws my attention more than listening to someone's pain articulated into song that I can relate to. The expression in the artform is what thrives me to write down and turn my own personal pain into music. Authenticity is a magnet for me!

I would definitely say so! I can't write about anyone else's experiences but my own, otherwise it wouldn't be authentic to me.

The track is the first and probably the most important thing. If the beat ain't live, then we have nothing. Secondly, the hook or chorus because it's the section of the song that most people resonate with as it's the most repetitive. Lastly, but not the very least, the verses have to attract your audience's attention. There are a ton of songs out now, where the first two elements I named are great but the bars or verses are weak. That's what loses me personally in tuning into anyone's track. Very important!

My life growing up was the biggest influence for the music I choose to put out now. I now talk more about real life circumstances and situations not only from a musical standpoint, but it also helps with the healing process of emotions I still experience today.

No particular goal. Just displaying my talent and that I'm lyrically up to par when it comes to bars.

The track itself was more than enough for me. I listened to it and started putting words together. I feel like I'm the one or the hottest, so why not show it!

To tell you the truth, I find inspiration within myself and others around me these days. Usually happens when I have an idea or a moment of clarity and I write it out. 30 mins later I have a song.
