Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

My name is YOUNG TREY. I'm a Music Producer, Artist, Actor, and DJ. I'm the official DJ for Mack 10.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

BULLETPROOF was inspired by a the experiences I had from growing up in the hood preferably South Central Los Angeles near the Crenshaw District. 10th Ave was plagued with Gang bangin, drive by shootings, police helicopters, and drug dealing. I eventually ended up in juvenile hall and later on the federal penitentiary.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

My Father owned a record shop on the eastside of Los Angeles. I was probably about 1-2 years old listening to all of that old school music. My Mother taught me how to play the organ when I was about 3 or 4 years old. After learning how to play nursery rhymes and Christmas carols I started playing the songs I heard on the radio. Thats when they recognize I had a special talent.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I was arrested January 1989 for slanging crack. I was sentenced to 51 months in the FEDS. During my stay in paradise I started making music again. I started making rap beats for all of the rappers in prison. Someone gave me a tape recorder and a cassette tape with Ice Cube and Big Daddy Kane on it. After listening to these two artists I started writing rhymes. I wrote my first rap in 1990. I performed in a few talent shows in prison and everyone said I sound good. That's when I decided I wanted to be an entertainer.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

This is a gangster rap song. It could be categorized as a hip hop gangster rap song.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

I think I'm more in tuned with how I sound vocally whereas before I was coming off to hard and aggressive. Now I'm laid back and in pocket.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

I have a story to tell and I want the world to no that I was groomed to be a street wise individual, a hustler, a Hoodsta or a Gangsta. My Father (Sammy Green) taught me how to accumulate large sums of money out of the mud! My hood taught me how to conduct my self in the streets. Life in the hood would be the theme.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

I would like tour with Mack 10. To show my black brothers that outside of the colors blue and red we are one people. Black and brown people. To promote peace amongst our communities by coming together in brotherhood to have a good time in solidarity.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

My favorite artists is Sting. His music is classy and rich that complements luxury and elegance. His music sets the mood for wine, dinner, cigars, beautiful women, and ocean views.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

My music connects to the imagination of the listener. I vividly paint a clear picture through music of what Ive experienced in life. Stories about drive by shootings and gang banging, drug dealing and getting money, lowriding and beautiful women,, police helicopters and prison. I'll take you on a journey in your mind with out you leaving your environment.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

I would love to see Frank Sinatra perform. To experience real Mafia music in person. To sit in an audience full of serious and powerful men accompanied by the most beautiful and elegant women on earth.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

I would choose Sade, Sting, and Chris Botti because I love beautiful women and luxury. I love good food and wine with shoreline views of waves rolling in. These three artist are the sound track to success.
