Martini Russa Perspective on Hangover
Anastasia grew up listening to her parents' records in Moscow, Russia. The first song she remembers hearing was Bamboleo by Gypsy Kinds, as well as whole albums by Queen, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Animals, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and Slade, as well as Boney-M, and Abba. She studied piano since she was 5 years old, and was exposed to a lot of classical music. Her favorite composers are Chopin and Rachmaninoff. As she got a little older, her friends introduced her to Nirvana, Blur, Massive Attack, Portishead, and Radiohead, the latter becoming her life-long favorite band.
In Brazil, it was Martini's uncle who introduced him to 70's and 80's rock as well as other genres: Antonio Jobim, Guns'n'Roses, Queen, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, and Eddie Van Halen. At the same time, he had access to his grandfather's record collection of Chorinhos and other traditional Brazilian musical genres. When he moved to Spain at age 19, he fell in love with Flamenco, especially with Paco De Lucia's genius, and studied flamenco guitar under some of Spain's most notable musicians.
Martini Russa is an award-winning rock duo and band formed by virtuoso guitarist Martini (Brazil/Spain) and powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Anastasia (Russia/USA). They currently reside in Naples, Florida, where they perform as a duo as well as with their rock band, joined by Dave Tepper on drums and Erlan Barzaga on bass.
