Uptown Boys Perspective on THC

Stereo seperation, good compressors, and even though this might sound obvious, mix your songs with a good pair of studio speakers. One of the big reasons for aspiring producers' mixes sounding unprofessional or just downright bad is because they use headphones to mix. It might be more comfortable, but if you want the best sounding mix it's a good idea to use studio monitors.

When making the vocals for THC, the artist accidentally coughed mid-recording and we ended up just making it part of the song.

Piano and guitar. They're both relatively easy to understand, and come with an insane amount of versatility. With just a MIDI keyboard and a basic knowledge of the piano, you can create millions of combinations of sounds.

Stereo sepeation is one of the most useful tools for making your mixes sound better. I highly recommend using a stereo shaper/enhancer plugin on some aspects of your songs, it makes the mix wider and it makes it much easier to hear the more subtle sounds.

Anywhere from 3 to 20. It just depends on how much I have going on at the time.

The vocals were not only recorded with cheap equipment, but were also just a nightmare to mix. iZotope's RX-10 series of plugins really helped me to remove all the stubborn background noises, and it actually worked way better than expected.

Being in the studio either by myself or with other artists is definitely my favorite part. I've always been in love with computers and with music, so being able to create something that I can actually hear and spread to other people is great for me.

Working with other artists always has it's upsides, it opens me up to ideas I would've never had. But in my personal experiences, working alone gives me an environment with much less distractions, and it always helps to recharge the social battery a little bit.
