Monte Funderbunk III Perspective on FUNK GROVE

This song just came naturally as an improv jam and liking a wide verity of styles of music makes me well rounded as a musician

My name is Rob Hickey and I am the drummer and producer (in the dance tracks) and the one who brings everything and everyone together to create the music we/I make. I also do the recording/mixing/and mastering in my personal studio

Lol listening to a chipmunks album of Bette Davis' eyes lol 😆

I've always wanted to create music so I can't really say exactly when it's just something I've always felt

Funk/jam/festival

It's gotten a lot more consistent and confident

Queens of the Stone Age : I would say over all sexy is the word I would use to describe their music

I wouldn't really say there a theme just play with comes naturally in that moment

Fun

Never look back would be my favorite song I've made because it was the first time I heard something I've created and realized that it was good and that it came so naturally

Josh Homme, Trent reznor, Dave grohl and Les clay pool

Happy

Yo have fun and smile. If it ever stops bringing a smile to my face and becomes to feel like work then that will mean I'm not making music for the reason I started making music in the first place. To express myself. The feeling I get when the chemistry is electrifying with the people I'm doing it with can't be described...it's amazing!

I practice as much as possible and the only way it has changed is by the people I'm making it with, I enjoy feeding off the energy in the room from the other musicians in that room that are playing with me or seeing the people listening to my edm tracks move with intensity that keeps growing is magical

If I hear someone listening to my music with out me showing it to them and they are truly feeling it and there's a smile on their face then I've made it

My sister hearing my work and truly enjoying it

A beautiful sunny outdoor performance with the crowd all moving together, and I'm enjoying themselves

In my car lol

Contractor

Most of my music is improv so I work off the intensity in the room or the feeling I have in my head

Just had a vibe and ran with it to where I didn't even particularly like the dude playing with me but in that moment we were on the same level in our vibe and we caught that on tape and it was intense and fulfilling

It depends obviously with live music (jamming) I'd like to be with 3-4 other people but in producing dance tracks I kinda like to go it alone or have my gf with me, she influences a lot of the side of my creativity

No matter what is going on in my life I go somewhere else when I set foot into my studio....it truly is my happy place

I like all of it really but I guess the mixing is the part that really wows me because when your playing you actually hear every little nuance and tweak that the bass or guitar or keys are doing but when your in play back and really paying attention it amazes me how we all lock in on some vibe that is unspoken

I try to produce at least one or two "songs" a week
