What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

My dream performance would be something like this, having the fans in tears during one part, and having them screaming at the top of their lungs turning up at another part. I'm very big on all moods, and I want my music to create emotions in people.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

NBA Youngboy, xxxtentacion, and myself, just because the one thing they all have in common, is being relatable to me, and having songs for every mood.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

To be very honest, I don't like any of the songs I've made. The only reason for this is because I know I can do way better with my music, and I'm constantly improving, so I know the music I make now isn't even nearly as good to what it could be.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

My music can be relaxing, and it can turn you up too. It really can't be described, because everyone who listens to it, will experience something different, think of different situations, and hear it differently.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

I would describe it in two words- crazy life, because that's what it's about. Life is crazy, it has its ups and downs, and music can accompany you throughout your whole life, the ups, and the downs.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

It would probably be xxxtentacion, sadly he isn't here anymore, but I've always, and still do look up to him, as an inspiration for what I want to do with my music. I want to be unique, inspire people, lead people in the right directions, away from depression and to God.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

I make songs for every mood. I make songs with themes such as love, grief, motivation, aggression, happiness, etc. As humans we feel many different emotions throughout the days, weeks, and months, and it's constantly changing, so for those who like my sound, I strive to have a song for every mood there is.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

3 years ago, my voice was very annoying, from the accent to the tone and pitch, everything about it was terrible. Looking back, I don't know what I was thinking getting into music, but now my voice dropped, and is deeper than most grown men I've been told. I've been told by some girls I've fell asleep on the phone with that my voice can "put them to sleep." My voice is very mellowm so most of my R&B songs have a chill ambient vibe to them. My rap songs however, can be very aggressive due to my voice being as deep as it is.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

This song definitely plays into my Hip-Hop side. I made the beat myself, using NBA YoungBoy pain loop kits on YouTube, and a lot of practice over time, using Fl Studio.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I fell in love with music, hip-hop specifically, after getting kicked out of school in 6th grade for always causing problems in class. I began freestyling with some friends a couple houses down, started listening mostly to Youngboy Never Broke Again, and eventually made my own music from an android phone. By the age of 16, I wanted to take it all seriously, so I bought a lease on a beat, recorded my vocals and mixed it all myself, then using DistroKid, released the song to all platforms. I made a music video snippet for the first ever song I released, and I posted it to Instagram reels, getting 7,000 plays, and over 500 likes within 48 hours. Now in 2024, I am dedicated to consistently releasing new music every couple of weeks, with music videos, in various genres, with features here and there.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

Before I could even walk and talk, my mom used to record me dancing to music all the time, moving to its rythym, or always tapping my fingers or my feet to the tempo.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

This song is a story, told from my perspective, about my 2 grandparents who lived with me both passing away, and how I would cope with the grief that the tragedies caused.

Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

Alexander Rivas, also known as "DBM Xan," a young singer/songwriter from Fayetteville, North Carolina. Born March 21st, 2007, heavily influenced by 2010's Hip-Hop/Trap music. Started freestyling around the age of 12, fell in love with music, and ended up releasing over 200 songs on soundcloud as a 14 year old. Took it seriously over the summer over 2023 (Age 16), and released first ever official single "Onto The next" to all platforms, on July 15th.
