Answer:

Im KOOTIE HINES and i'm a writer, rapper engineer and flm maker

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

When my kids were babies I used to freestyle off topic verses that made them laugh as well as ask questions. These songs I freestyled were always harmonized to the melodies of their favorite cartoons.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

At the age of six, I had my Fisher Price record player that I used to Amii Stewart's - Knock On Wood over and over. I also loved my other record Monster Mash!

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

When I was 11 years old my older brother began rapping. My brother taught me how to rap by writing me one song then I was sold as I soon mastered his lyrics  , not soon before picking up a pen an writing my own song. I've been in a love hate relationship with Hip-Hop every since

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

Hip-Hop

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

My level of inteligence has evolved and it shows through flow, creativity and topic of discussion.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

I tend to teach through fictional themes, but at times I will teach through an autobiographical aspect of story telling.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

Just listen to the words and try your best to relate, whether it be personal experience or fimiliarity towards someone you eirher know or has heard of.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

I'm an artist who makes feel good music and for those evenings when the moon is full, I like to sing about humerous topics from a fantasy stand point. Sometimes I take a left turn and my alter ego "Blasta" will take you on a journey of fictional horror.   

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Michael Jackson, because Michael Jackson

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

I love each one of my songs equally. If I didnt love them first then the fans would never get a chance to judge them. My songs are for me and my soul, if someone else can benefit from me sharing part of me, then thats an edded benefit. 

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

I want people to free, seen, heard and accepted when they listen to my music.

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

A private viewing of never before videos and performances that play on theater screen during my funeral. Thats actually thats Blasta's dream performance,  my alter ego I mentioned before. As for me Kootie Hines, my dream performance would look more like a small club filled with loved ones as we all sing along to our favoroite Kootie Hines songs, but Karaoke performances.

Answer:

I practice constantly

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

Success is loving what you do! and after having put in the hardest work to reach your goals of success, you feel like you haven't put in any work at all.

Answer:

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

This is the best song I have heard in my life

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

I change the game by always staying fresh and never following trends even if I started the trend.

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

Artist are teachers, a role bestowed upon us whether we like it or not. This I beleive is our societal placement on earth

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

Iv'e been a wharehouse worker, a medical technician and 911 medic as well as a Respiratory therapist

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

Sometimes and only when the light is green and it is safe to go. I find my living in a metaphoric world of art. For me, I would define having an artistic outlook on life as a safe haven where one can go to escape thewhoas  of every day life. 

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

Making music is the times when Im not stressed
