Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

My name is Devorah and I. am a singer/songwriter from San Diego, CA. I have been writing since I could hold a pen in my hand. I have been through many trials and tribulations including, addiction, and I have come out the other side even stronger. I use my sobriety as inspiration when writing. I like to genre bend with pop, edm, and R&B. 

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

My earliest memory of listening to music is as an infant, listening to "A child's Gift Of Lullabies". I slept to that tape every night. 

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

When I was three years old, I stood up on the little tykes picnic table in pre-school, and belted out "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", from Evida. That was the moment I knew I was destined for the stage.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

This song is a fusion of electronic and pop music. 

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

My sound has become much more refined in the last three years. I've gone from a desperate and dark place, to standing in the light, and I believe my lyrics reflect that.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

I explore themes of love, heartbreak, mental illness, and passion throughout my music,

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

If I could go on tour with any artist, it would be Lauryn Hill. She is one of my biggest influences and inspirations.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

I would describe my favorite artist's music as soulful and passionate.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

I would describe my music as fun, ecclectic, and soulful to someone who has never heard it before.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

If I could attend a performance by any artist it would have to be Prince. I never got to see him live and I'm sure the show would be unbelievable.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

My favorite song that I've made would have to be, "Inside My Head". It touches on my journey to wellness through mental illness.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, and Whitney Houston,

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

Selling out a stadium and having people singing my songs back to me.

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

I want people to feel a sense of connection when they listen to my music. 

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

I practice all the time. I have a studio in my room, with my DJ equipment which I use with me on stage.

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

Success to me is doing what I love no matter what.

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

I believe my genre bending will be game changing. Not many other artists are doing it.

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

An artist is the most important role. Music is so healing and can be life changing.

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

Forgetting the lyrics to my own song at an open mic.

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

I would make phsyical records sell again since streaming is not profitable to artists now.

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

I'm never lonely in my artistry. I am focused and motivated and that eliminates any of those feelings.

Which mediums of art do you most identify with?
Answer:

Painting on canvas, and singing.

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

Never give up no matter what anyone says. There will be a lot of no's, but one yes is all you need.

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

I have a burning desire to connect with other people in this way,
