Devorah Perspective on Care for you
My name is Devorah and I. am a singer/songwriter from San Diego, CA. I have been writing since I could hold a pen in my hand. I have been through many trials and tribulations including, addiction, and I have come out the other side even stronger. I use my sobriety as inspiration when writing. I like to genre bend with pop, edm, and R&B.
My earliest memory of listening to music is as an infant, listening to "A child's Gift Of Lullabies". I slept to that tape every night.
When I was three years old, I stood up on the little tykes picnic table in pre-school, and belted out "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", from Evida. That was the moment I knew I was destined for the stage.
This song is a fusion of electronic and pop music.
My sound has become much more refined in the last three years. I've gone from a desperate and dark place, to standing in the light, and I believe my lyrics reflect that.
I explore themes of love, heartbreak, mental illness, and passion throughout my music,
If I could go on tour with any artist, it would be Lauryn Hill. She is one of my biggest influences and inspirations.
I would describe my favorite artist's music as soulful and passionate.
I would describe my music as fun, ecclectic, and soulful to someone who has never heard it before.
If I could attend a performance by any artist it would have to be Prince. I never got to see him live and I'm sure the show would be unbelievable.
My favorite song that I've made would have to be, "Inside My Head". It touches on my journey to wellness through mental illness.
Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, and Whitney Houston,
Selling out a stadium and having people singing my songs back to me.
I want people to feel a sense of connection when they listen to my music.
I practice all the time. I have a studio in my room, with my DJ equipment which I use with me on stage.
Success to me is doing what I love no matter what.
I believe my genre bending will be game changing. Not many other artists are doing it.
An artist is the most important role. Music is so healing and can be life changing.
Forgetting the lyrics to my own song at an open mic.
I would make phsyical records sell again since streaming is not profitable to artists now.
I'm never lonely in my artistry. I am focused and motivated and that eliminates any of those feelings.
Painting on canvas, and singing.
Never give up no matter what anyone says. There will be a lot of no's, but one yes is all you need.
I have a burning desire to connect with other people in this way,
