Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

My name is Davide Perico, and I hail from the picturesque landscapes of Italy. I am a passionate composer for games and films, a sound designer with an ear for the intricate layers of audio, a beat maker who loves to experiment with rhythms and orchestra, and a producer who brings sounds to life. My journey in the world of music has been rich and diverse, having worked as a front-of-house engineer for renowned jazz and rock bands across the globe.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

This song is a perfect example of integration between film music and lo-fi beats, featuring complex string melodies combined with the classic drum samples and typical production techniques of this genre.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

I don't remember the exact year, as I was just a child, but I remember perfectly the first time I heard the sound of a piano in the room, and I knew that music would be my life

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

Already at the age of 8 I knew that this would be my job. I never had any doubts, even in the hardest moments, when things didn't work out and I didn't have a home

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

This is definitely a lo-fi song, closely related to ambient lo-fi, with somewhat sleepy sounds. However, the melancholic melody and the presence of strings make it a crossover between different genres.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

Speaking of lo-fi music, my journey began exactly 3 years ago, during the pandemic. My sound has evolved a lot, in step with the compositional aspect. The structure and arrangement have become more complex and full of details, for both the rhythmic and melodic parts. Collaborating with many artists has really helped me to stay humble and to learn a lot, both from a technical standpoint and in the emotional construction of a song.Lately I've been trying to give the orchestra important parts in my lofi songs. I would say that this is the most relevant aspect of my latest works

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

Influenced by my work in film, I always strive to tell a story. As in life, these stories can be very diverse. But my main themes are the search for inner peace, and respect for nature.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

It would be great if David Gilmour played one of my melodies

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

My music sounds like it is an immersive auditory journey, where melody serves as the guiding force, even within a compact two-minute beat. It seems to encapsulate a breadth of experiences and emotions, from the span of a lifetime to the intensity of a love story, the joy of a special day, or the longing of lost love. is designed to be evocative and narrative, allowing listeners to close their eyes and visualize the unfolding stories that my compositions aim to tell.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

At the moment my favorite song is "On the Shore", especially for the synth theme, really dreamy, and for the beautiful string parts and guitars by my friend Yoshimitsu4432

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

David Gilmour

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

I would love to hear Chopin play his own compositions, as would Bach. They are two giants, two sources of constant inspiration, the idea of never being able to discover it haunts me. Gotta invent the time machine

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

It's not really important what people feel, but what they can feel. Also feel annoyance, but never indifference. That would mean failing as an artist

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Calm, determined, organized

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

I'm only interested in defining my career as an artist. I am successful if I can ensure a dignified and happy life for my family, emotionally and financially

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

My style is constantly evolving, but my maximum effort is to bring melody to the center of lofi music. Possibly played with real instruments.

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

I honestly don't think they play such an important role today. But I think we should win it back. The world is lost without art, without a gaze that knows how to admire, without thinking of buying or worse, conquering

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

Project manager for luxury events
