Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

Hello there!!! I am David Bell Jr aka "Slimdog" and I am Slimdog Productions.

 

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

My mom and dad always played records ing the house. They had very ecclectic taste. Everything from Motown to The sound Of Philadelphia to Memphis Soul to The Doors to Vanilla Fudge to Sergio Brazil 66... I heard a wide range of music.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

LoFi, Chillhop, RnB, Neo Soul

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

Prince...
The knowledge I would gain as an artist. Wow.

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

Because I love to make it.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

Probably around 2004 when I had bought the MTV beatmaker for Xbox. Started making beats with that then discovered ejay loops and beat maker. I have a music background, I played drums from 5th through high school with marching band, orchestra and jazz band. I also deejayed in college for the college radio station and had a music night at the college 3.2 beer bar in the early 80s with a Hip Hop/R&B show in Colorado Springs from '83-'85.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

When in 2014, the Hip Hop group Block Scholars that I was a part of, won the Hollywood Music In Media Awards Hip Hop Song Of The Year for "All Of My Life".  A beat that I made.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

Chill, relaxing, mellow, smooth....

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

Don't be a copycat. Do you, be you. If your love and passion shows in your work? That's when people show love and passion in you...

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

I was doing mostly Hip Hop beats 3 years ago and then I discovered LoFi and Chillhop music. The popularity of the 24/7 live study channels on You Tube. Now it's all I pretty much do.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Prince....
The Time...
Mint Condition...

A HUGE fan of The Minneapolis Sound.
Mint Condition because they are one of the most underrated R&B bands of all time. Writing is impeccable.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

Mix of a range of styles and moods.

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

Me deejaying my favorite songs in a large lounge type atmosphere. Kind of like a "Soul Selection" vibe atmosphere. When I mix in one of my songs, I hear the people cheer as they nod their heads to my music.
