At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I was 6 when I fell in love with dance. Around 9 or 10 I fell in love with singing and dancing. I've always loved singing but it wasn't until my early 20s that I decided to focus solely on becoming a music artist

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

Everything's the same just a little different and work hard then work harder.

Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

Lisa Ramey, recording artist originally from St. Louis, Missouri and now live in NYC.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

The Jackson 5 albums on my moms record player. Same with MJ Thriller with the tiger on the cover. Jesus Christ Superstar the musical and children's memory verse church music!

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

That's a great question. When I asked my producer what he thinks my genre is, he said "it's Lisa Ramey". My music may not fit into a specific genre we all can agree on. It's just the way I hear music. Sometimes I'll write a pop/rock/alternative song and next I'll write a dance track. Im moody and my music shows this.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

SO MUCH!!! What I write about has matured. The production has improved greatly. I've learned so much and continue to learn.I've made some amazing relationships along the way that have helped me in so many ways. Engineers, mixing and mastering houses that care about my music and me as an artist brings out pure gold in records. I've learned how important it is to have a team and how important it is to take the time to choose the best team for you.

What has been your scariest experience while pursuing music?
Answer:

Leaving the world of representation to start my own career as an independent artist. There's SO MUCH to learn about the business of music. I run a company and have employees I pay to work for me. Whoa.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

John Legend because he turned his chair for me on The Voice and invited me to sing with him at Madison Square Garden while he was on tour!

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

If you want to be motivated and feel incredible happiness and joy pulsing through your veins all day from the power of horns, guitars, vocals, insane bass lines and rhythms you'd have to be a music god to come up with, then I have the perfect band for you to get hip to. Earth Wind and Fire. Start with track: Serpentine Fire.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Ella Fitzgerald. Her voice is silk. There is none like her. The way she sings is so effortless, fun, smooth, controlled and whimsical. Her vocals sound like a brass instrument. There is and will never be anyone like her. She melts hearts the second she opens her mouth to serenade us.

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Energetic, positive and free.

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

All my teachers said "perfect practice makes perfect". I practiced for over 4 hours a day 6 days a week from middle school on through college. From there I practice at least 2 hours a day. I never stop practicing!

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

A sold out outdoor huge festival somewhere over seas where everyone sings my songs with me.

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

Super lonely because being a recording artist has no off days and not everyone in the 9-5p world understands this. Weekends we work the most. During the week especially since my team is spread out from NYC-STL-LA-UK-EUR-CZK my phone meeting times are all over the place and all very important. It's not easy to keep up with my schedule for social hangs but I have very patient friends and family that help me out when our schedules allow. This does not happen enough. I miss a lot of weddings and baby showers.

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

Yes, that quitting is not an option.
