Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

My name is Ymkje de Bijl, i live in Venlo, The Netherlands. I am writing and producing my own songs.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

Well, at a very young age i was diagnosed with classical autism, all of my songs are basically about my personal experiences and how i deal with autism.

'I Rule The World' is about growing up as an adult and making my own choises in life, something that is not so easy while having autism.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

Oh i started listening to music when i was about 3 years old.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

From the moment i went on stage during a concert from my mom, i was about 7 years old back then. 

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

It's a electronic pop, alternative song.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

I started in 2021 with my first release 'Uncontrollable Feeling' which was a song i wrote about a recent period in my life when i had panis attacks. It was more of like a self healing proces. The sound in that song stands for my emotional feelings back then, it was absolutely not for commercial purposes, in the following releases i tried to be more commercial soundwise.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

Basically about personal experience.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

Definately Billie Eilish, she is my insperation, the first time i went to a concert was Billie.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

It's energetic, honest and i have my own sound. Just listen to it!

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

'SERPENT' it's my latest track, i always love my new baby, it is still unreleased.

Answer:

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

That they understand and feel the emotion in the song.

That would be definately at live concerts.

Answer:

Honest, emotional and catchy

Answer:

Answer:

She is truly authentic and hard to beat.

Answer:

Billie Eilish because she is authentic.

Performing for a crowd who are true fans.

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

At the toilet.

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

Sure i need to practice, i take singing lessons to work on my voice.

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

When i reach a top 10 position in a billboard list. My song 'I Rule the World' is currently being played on several radio stations around the globe. That gives me recognision as an artist.

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

Always being honest and try to give back some strenght and recognition in my songs to help people with simular issues.

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

I think some artist can have a strong voice in many struggles in life and in general world problems as well.

Answer:

'I Rule the World' because that's what i am figuring out right now!

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

Non at all.

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

Don't focus so much on the big ones, give the unknow a better platform, they need it more than ever!

How have your other passions reinforced your process of making music?
Answer:

I feel more confident and secure to do other things that i like.

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

In some way yes, i noticed that certain people avoid me because they think my lyrics are about them.

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

Just be happy every day and keep pushing.

What is your favorite work of art?
Answer:

Writing music for sure.

Which mediums of art do you most identify with?
Answer:

I guess it's Snapchat for the moment, it makes me laugh a lot.

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

That i am ready for the big jump.

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

I just love making music, exploring beats.
