The Decrees are a Indie Rock 'n' Roll band, and hail from Fife, Scotland. They mix different blends of genres in their songs but still retain a raw and provocative take on music that is reminiscent of a bygone age. The band were formed in early 2016. Their line up comprises of, vocals James Miller, bassist Luke Miller, guitarist Callum Bell and drummer Kieran Bell. Releasing their exciting debut four-track EP, in April 2017,
Screams from Suburbia, The Decrees looked to give a musical account of the everyday experiences of the monotony of modernity with this release; blending full-throttle rock music with catchy choruses and beats. The band breaks with the overall theme and feeling of their debut EP, with double A-side single
Sons of Rage. Recorded by the renowned Michael Brennan of The Substation (
Mogwai,
Snow Patrol,
Super Furry Animals,
Loop,
Primal Scream) and mastered by Pete Maher (
U2,
Pixies,
Jack White,
The Rolling Stones,
Lana Del Rey). Moving into 2018 brought the release of "I Don't Mind" also mixed and mastered by the aforementioned Brennan and Maher.
2019 brought with it change and the band had a lineup change. With this came the breaking of new barriers in the landscape of the bands sound. The Decrees had two single releases in 2019. The anticipated 'Silhouettes of the Moon' and the innovative 'Liberté', which saw the band establish itself as a force to be reckoned with blending pop-infused rhythm and lyrics. The band will have a new summer release.
