Atlanta-based dreamlike R&B duo St. Beauty were formed in the mid-2010s by lead vocalist Alex Belle and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Isis Valentino. Valentino's résumé before St. Beauty included work as a dancer and background singer for Janelle Monae and membership with the artist collective Wondaland Arts Society. One of St. Beauty's first public appearances came with the inclusion of their song "Going Nowhere" on the Wondaland Arts Society-affiliated compilation Wondaland Presents: The Eephus in 2015. From there the duo released several singles, including 2016's "Borders" and "Holographic Lover" as well as 2017's "Caught." St. Beauty further refined their minimal and evocative sound as they worked toward their debut full-length, which materialized in the form of Running to the Sun in early 2018. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
