About:
Saint Bernadette was founded by Meredith DiMenna and Keith Saunders in Bridgeport, CT in 2007 when DiMenna suffered a cancer scare. Before undergoing a surgery close to her vocal chords, the pair decided to make an album, setting up a mobile recording rig on the second floor of the historic Bijou Theater building. Their debut, IN THE BALLROOM, featured two of Bridgeport’s break out producers Chris Sanchez (Gold Coast Recorders) and Peter Katis (Interpol, The National), and quickly launched the band, drawing positive reviews from national outlets. DiMenna survived cancer-free, vocal chords in tact, and the band went on to release five albums and toured nationally until 2012. The pair wrote their final album, THE NEVERS, throughout and following the end of their musical and emotional partnership and recorded at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, NC with producer Danny Kadar (Avett Brothers, My Morning Jacket).
THE NEVERS is the sound of a marriage falling apart, a musical chronicle of DiMenna and Saunders’ break-up after 10 years together, the last three as man and wife as well as collaborators.
Producer Kadar explained its appeal: “This is the kind of album, when you’re going through these kinds of things, a friend hands it to you and says, ‘Listen to this.’ And nothing else will do.”
In 2020, the band will release COVER THY NEIGHBOR, an album originally recorded in 2010 featuring compositions by friends and collaborators from the CT music scene.
