About:
Tennessee native singer-songwriter Jacob Whitesides is a passionate storyteller who draws inspiration from personal experience as well as from his fans. He’s been honing his compelling, indie-pop-meets-R&B sound since he rose to fame as a 14-year-old performing YouTube covers. Focused on connecting with audiences and developing his voice as an artist, Jacob released a series of well-received EPs from 2014-2015 (The EP, A Piece of Me, Faces on Film) before dropping his debut studio album Why? in 2016. Produced by David Spencer, the collection of nuanced, intimate indie-pop tracks debuted at No.25 on Billboard’s Independent Charts. Jacob performed the album’s hit single “Lovesick” at the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. With worldwide fans numbering in the millions, his emotionally driven, intimate love songs range from energetic R&B dance anthems to vulnerable, narrative acoustic tracks. He’s worked with Tony Ferrari, Brett McLaughlin, and Kelly Rowland, toured extensively across Europe and South America, and shared stages with a range of iconic acts including Fifth Harmony, Jason Derulo, Shawn Mendes, Ben Rector, Kelsea Ballerini, and Sabrina Carpenter.
Constantly evolving as a creator, Jacob split with former label BMG in 2019 with the independent release of his 4th EP Colors, reinventing himself as a diverse, beat-driven, and dramatic songwriter. His new single “Afraid to Die” (March 2021) brings his signature vocal clarity into darker, atmospheric soundscapes.
