Hologram Teen is the solo project (and anagram) of former
Stereolab keyboardist Morgane Lhote. Her colorful, playful songs are heavily influenced by horror movie soundtracks and Italo disco, as well as dub and instrumental hip-hop. Initially from Paris, Morgane moved to London when she was 20, spent nearly a decade in New York City, and relocated to Los Angeles where she concentrated on her solo material. Her full-length debut,
Between the Funk and the Fear was released by Polytechnic Youth in 2017 and imagined a movie soundtrack where
John Carpenter and
Boris Karloff hang out at Studio 54 with German zombies dancing to "Thriller" in the background. Hologram Teen's latest opus
Pizza Conspiracy folds acid-drenched funk & Congolese rumba into astral jazz & Daisy Age hip-hop and dropped on
Ransom Note Records in 2020.
